    update on mid engine corvette

I talked with a well placed source. They report that there may be a mid engine sports car in the works, BUT it would be for another one of the divisions. Don't expect to see this with a Corvette badge. One comment is that the current model is 50/50 balanced. What else could you want?
    85 cars since 1975....
    Good night and good luck.

guionm said the same. "Don't expect it to be a Corvette"

    Good to know.

Cadillac flagship? Love to see something as exiting as an exotic as opposed to another bigger sedan. More in keeping with the brand direction.

I had a "gut" feeling it WOLD NOT be a VETTE as it "upsets" the VETTE'S "roots" and pictured a AUDI A8 like CADDY with "NO CHEVY DNA at all"/ not a CHEVY "rebadge" as would be claimed

another devision COULD also be Buick/Opel - THAT would be interesting + SO far out in LEFT field it WOULD be the TALK OF THE TOWN

+ NOT compete with the -V caddies ++ NOT be required to be styled like one ether

45/55 weight balance, better cooling, active aero. And if they stay supercharged, a larger supercharger.

The present 110 thousand dollar c7 z06 is all the sports car any of us need....and the prices are climbing way to fast...IMO

Sure you can get a 1lz c7 z06 that ll be just as fast...

Quite honestly I don't believe we need a 400 grand mid engine super car for gm.

I think it's a waste of resources that could be better spent on developing more cuv s in the gmc and Cadillac portion of the company.

    That's just my opinion.

Just as the front mid engine c7 z06 performs stronger than most rear mid engine super cars...I think research and development on an ultra expensive even 200 k dollar mid engine corvette or Cadillac is a fools folly.

If gm does the mid engine sports car in believe one version will be for the corvette branded and knew for Cadillac...

Might as well have two versions since the development cost is done..

    I think it's a waste but what I do I know....?

Without question I believe the gm product will be superior to ford, Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren.

I see only two possibilities: Vette or Cadillac. Other brands can't keep prices higher than the Corvette Z06.

We have made the argument that if a Chevy version gets produced more than likely a Caddy version would eventually appear as well. Would the same be said if a Caddy version debuts first.

Thing is, I feel like it's not supposed to be out for another uh... 10 years or so.

Unless the Cadillac is priced to move units like the Vette (creating a functional halo like the R8 vs GT), I don't get it...

They already did it with the Cadillac Cien.

It was a concept but was drivable and just about production ready. If they want to play in the ultra-expensive mid-engine class it would make sense to resurrect the Cien and update it as needed.

I would sooner expect said GM mid-rear-engined car to have a hybrid system, something Corvette also can't do, to impact performance and fuel economy.

The BMW i8 couldn't keep up with a Corvette to save it's life in a road course or straight line - but it caters to a different crowd.

The i8 has only one redeeming quality. Price. Its even worse than an ELR

Re: update on mid engine corvette

I would enjoy seeing a battery pack power plant for the front wheels of a mid engine corvette.

I'm just not sure it's a wise use of resources but since ford stepped up to the plate with the ford gt I guess we can expect GM to so as well.

I do t believe it's necessary but what the hell....those with the desire to purchase a mid engine corvette for a few hundred grand or a Cadillac will get their chance...

I'd rather see a bolt based Porsche Macan like product for gmc or Cadillac...

I'd imagine it would make a bigger statement about gm than the rumored mid engine Cadillac or corvette...and they would sell more of them as well.

I'm sure the failed ELR has gm cautious about Bolt chassis sharing.

GM does a non-hybrid RMR car, there are quite a few screws loose in Detroit.

A base ICE-only version, sure. Eschewing hybridization altogether is borderline unthinkable.

    Brand, looks, performance, image.

The i8 is superior to the ELR in every way possible, as evidenced by being more than twice as expensive and selling twice as many units.

Its not superior, its in your head. In reality it does not bring anything new to the innovation table.
