    Update the Bowtie?

I was behind an Equinox at a stoplight this morning, looking at the gold bowtie on the back. Its a nice looking ute, but it struck me that the bowtie logo is just not doing justice to the more modern looking Chevys. Not that they should get rid of it, but maybe it could stand to be freshend up. Now that Chevy quality and styling are coming up to par, why not revamp the logo to show that they've moved on from the Chevys of yesterday?

I like the basic bowtie idea, I just think a little modernizing would help. Maybe its the gold color too, looks a little cheesy.

Chevy of yesterday? Most Chevys didn't have the bowtie at all until recently.

The Malibu badge wasn't going to go across the Chevy line anymore than the Impala badge was.

It'd look better if it was part of a full crest like it was 50 years ago, but that'd look old, so leave it alone.

My 91 Blazer had the same gold bowtie, front and center on the grille. That wasn't all that recent, at least not to me. And that thing was a piece, maybe that's why I don't like the logo anymore.

I don't like how the new Chevys all come with a gold Bowtie no matter what the exterior colour of the car. Something should be done about that.

    Re: Update the Bowtie?

Personally i liked it better blue....silver would be even better. (but everyone is silver) Or you could always color code it based on vehicle color, that would be even better. I just don't think gold goes well with much of anything in any application. The gold bowtie has grown on me though and I don't mind it, I just think other colors would be better.

It shouldn't have been anything but blue in the first place. Perhaps people would really get the point if it were back on the red and white background that had seen use in Chevrolets of the past (40s? 50s and 60s).

    Re: Update the Bowtie?

Do a chrome bowtie in a circle like Vauxhall and holden. I think the Brazillian chevy's have this emblem and I think they would look better and not get lost with just a chrome bowtie on the chrome bar.

Here is the website for examples...will post pics when get home(at work)

    Re: Update the Bowtie?

I can see a color keyed emblem to the same color of the car looking cheap but I just really don't think gold goes with every color.

That's funny that you think that because I was thinking the same thing about the GM logo. It looks very plain and outdated to me and I thought it would have been a great opportunity to update it before putting it on every car. Now that GM is finally updating more and more of it's vehicles it would have been nice to update the current logo's at the same time.

There are tons of talented designers who could have come up with some excellent designs while keeping them instantly recognizable to the current clients. I didn't say anything because I figured it just looked old and boring to me because I'm a graphic designer.

    Re: Update the Bowtie?

Axing the Olds logo didn't do much for the brand, a last minute switch of the GM or Chevy logo on new models would be pretty much the same thing. Toyota got away without a logo for years, and they still don't have one for their corporation (GM has the blue square).
