    Troubling issue w Bolt

This is a dangerous/safety issue apparently w Bolt. The short of it is major glare issues of dash w certain colours. Easy fix is to only offer dark dash tops.

    Re: Troubling issue w Bolt

You think the Bolt is the only car that has this issue? Wrong. Any car with a lighter dash has a similar issue. My '17 Malibu has a similar problem and my simple solution is polarized sunglasses. Sure, I'd prefer no glare but it's not that big a deal. Even without sunglasses I didn't find it that big an issue. If you want to see glare, take a look at any car that the owner puts a 'dash protectant' on it. Glare city.

In the comments section you'll also see commenters say the Porsche Cayenne has the same problem, I'm sure there are other cars with the same problem. The whole article is sensationalist clickbait (and TTAC has become a joke).

Many cars have dark dash-tops regardless of interior trim colour, at least the good ones do.

My Envoy has a dark dash top and still has a glare issue in sunlight.

Then that's down to the texture/finish of the materials. Only car I ever had with a dash-top glare issue happened to be a GM Astra-G with light-grey interior.

I avoid that where ever possible - all black is such a depressing colour.

My 2005 Mazda3 has a dark dashtop and it also has a similar issue to my Malibu. My wife's 2010 Equinox, with a black dash top, reflects as much too. It's the angle of the windshield more than anything else. I see a similar problem in my father's 2013 Ford Escape and my mother's 2000 Lexus ES300, both have a black dash too. So all of those cars need to be recalled or are "not good ones"?

That "article" was sensationalist clickbait garbage.

Black interiors are great when it's 20F outside. When it's 100F, like it has been here in central North Carolina the past several days, it's THE worst interior choice. My old Mazda3 had a black interior and that car is the reason I got the saddle-tan colored leather with the lighter dash/door panel trim in my 2017 Malibu. I'm glad i got my lighter colored interior after this past week, including the lighter colored dash.

My VW has cream-coloured trim (with dark brown dash-top), an impractical colour but keeps the valeter employed! If it's below 5C (41F) I just put the remote diesel parking heater on before getting into the car.
