Smile There Are a Lot of Us!

Whatever people think about the new Monte Carlos, there are a lot around town. This morning, coming from work, I stopped by the local Panera bakery. I parked by a Dale Earnhardt special (the metallic blue) and a white SS. The guy down the block just picked up an SS with the competition yellow and there are at least 5 MC's in my company parking lot of 60 vehicles.
Yeah, it is FWD. Yeah, people think the exterioris ugly and the interior is bland. But they are popular around my part of town. Like the old Aqua Velva commercial says "There's something about a Monte Carlo guy".

Because they make perfect daily drivers. I have a 00'GTP and like the Monte SS it is roomy, comfortable, powerful, reliable and gets good gas mileage. Now that there is no longer a GTP Coupe I don't think there are very many replacements other than the Monte.

Unfortunately that is the case with large and somewhat sporty FWD 2-door cars. Well at least the G6 coupe is coming. The few alternatives are the Honda Accord coupe and the Toyota Solara. I know most people that buy Monte Carlo's would never even consider those 2 cars just because they a Japanese.

That's what I was thinking, too....

The metallic blue that they used on the Jeff Gordon edition is absolutely gorgeous. I so much prefer that deep blue to the blue they had for the 2000 editions ... it looked a bit too purple, along with the blue. I much prefer the deep/true colors than the ones that look purple, including the current blue and green. The dark green 2000 mc I had also had some purple tint to it, which I didn't like, but I didn't have much of a choice .

    Amen!

And, if you had been in Decatur IL this past weekend (Monte Carlo Nationals), you would've seen plenty more MCs .

I stand corrected, it was the Jeff Gordon issue. I like the subtle flames on the car.
Boy, oh boy; they have these big car shows but I never hear of them. I'm always checking the local auto fliers and newspapers for shows but so many of them are under advertised. It would be nice to see what the other folk are doing to their rides.

Is the 2006 MC RWD or FWD?

    Yep, FWD, still.

BTW, 69nova, iirc, you are in IL, so you should join us in the IL MC group, if you haven't already: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/imcog/

Re: There Are a Lot of Us!

Mine made a perfect daily driver in the time I had it. Good fuel milaege good room inside and a smooth ride. Decent power from the 3.4 liter V6. Worked well in the winter, didnt have to fight with it to keep it on the road. I just wanted something a bit more practcal this time hence the lease of an Equinox this time around.

I really do think that the car should be lowered about an inch and that the windows need to be tinted. It could also stand a slightly more aggressive exhaust. Maybe I'll do these after the warranty period.

Window tinting looks good on it. I did that to mine and it made it look better. Even though Wisconsin doesnt allow you to go dark enough to make a huge difference.

Re: There Are a Lot of Us!

How are the windows tinted by aftermarket vendors? I have heard that some owners have had the police tell them to get rid of it. If this is true, how does that happen?
