Is this some kind of a sick joke?

Who the hell puts the oil filter right next to the exhaust manifold?

Im going to seek reparations for the scar left on my thumb during replacement of the oil filter ($12 for the 1st degree burn, $15million for emotional damages).

Also, seems kinda bad putting it there. It just looks like the perfect place to boil the oil.

Same design is on all HFV6's in a FWD application. For some odd reason they blessed the RWD cars with a top mounted, very easy to reach catridge type filter.

A first degree burn will not result in a scar.

Dont change the oil when the engine is hot. Duh. First thing you learn as your own mechanic. Too easy to strip the drain plug on the aluminum oil pan.

Never figured that (the drain plug bit)

Ive worked as a mechanic, I know how to do it. The burning my hands bit was a little joke. Main point is, would the oil filter being right up against the manifold and cat be a bad design?

I only figure since it would just heat up the oil more than it needed to be.

Reparations are for discrimination in the past. If you think GM is discriminating against you because you are a Denali, hire a lawyer!!

Otherwise, contact one of those lawyers who's following the self-driving cars around. Just please, send me $10,000 out of your settlement for the valuable knowledge I have imparted.

Thank you, and have a nice day!

$10k? Hell, that knowledge is worth at least $20k!

You ever thought of being a lawyer?

    I was joking as well.

What to know the most annoying car to change a filter on? Anything with a Ford sideways mount. No matter what way you take off the filter you will get oil on you even if you drain the filter as well with a screwdriver.

Your referencing the Modular V8's on their BOF vehicles, right? It just gets everywhere.

How long did you work as a mechanic, and for whom? Hopefully not one of the oil quick-change shops?

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! You're supposed to use a .44 magnum to remove that filter.
Just before pulling the trigger, ask the oil filter, "Do you feel lucky today, punk? Huh? Do ya?"

In an earlier post he referred to many years of enjoyable work at the Baskin-Robbins 28 Flavors Ice Cream and O&F Shops. Pay attention!

I once considered it. But I promptly sued myself for having crazy thoughts. Settled out of court for an undisclosed sum.

Nope, I worked for a couple of unnamed full service shops. Still complained about crappy filter placement there lol

    The Lambdas are horrible.
