    Should Chevy get the VX220?

Should Chevy get the VX220 (http://vauxhall.co.uk/showroom/searc...ehicleType=Car) as a car to go against the just-introduced-to-America Lotus and the MR2 Spyder (I hear that it's in its last year?)

I personally think it'd be good... hey, anything that gives Chevy and GM more credibility with consumers and the press, as well as getting more sells is always a plus. Use almost the same everything with the exception of a modified front and rear end, as well as some interior changes. Same engine. Same platform. Same suspension. Mostly same design. Basically same car.

    Sound good?

Well even though it's mid-engined, I don't think GM needs five 2-seater cars. Vette and XLR and Solstice and Sky and VX220... not to mention the SSR and Saab 9-3 'vert (4-seater, I know)... make for a crowded sports/topless market already. As much as a car guy has to love the idea of an American version of the VX220 (Fiero, anyone?), I can't see where it'd fit. Though I'd suggest can the Solstice, build the Sky as-is, and bring us a Fiero ŕ la VX220!

Re: Should Chevy get the VX220?

I feel that an American VX220 would, and should, be priced higher than that of the Sol and Sky, but bellow the Vette and XLR. Performance-wise, it would fit well between those two groups... plus, yes, as you said, it's mid-engine.

It's more sport than Sol/Sky, more casual that Vette/XLR. And the Americans need a good GM mid-engine car thats priced in the mid-$30,000's... Sol/Sky should be well under starting, and the Vette starts at over $40,000, while the XLR is in the $50's or $60's to start...

Anyway, I personally feel it'd fit in... as a Fiero, sure... or a Chevy... either way, it'd be great! (I was thinking Chevy instead of Pontiac, though, because Chevy has no little car like this, where-as Pontiac does have a roadster, albeit far from the same.
