    Reuss sized RWD Chevy Coupe

I think Mr Reuss wants something quite small and sub V6 for a $18-$20K Chevy entry sporting vehicle. A cheap I4 only RWD platform that could spawn a small $24-$27K Sport Sedan later and even luxury Buick coupe/sedan versions to take on Mini etc...

Here is a generic illustration of the size and proportions...

That would be nice especially if it had nicer taillights than the sonic.

Something about the proportion is just off.

Probably the short wheelbase. Today you only tend to see long wheelbase coupes to make more rear seat room. In the past a short wheelbase was used when you wanted faster handling characteristics...

That would also make a nice sonic coupe.

If the seating area inside stayed the same or was very close to that of my Sonic Hatchback and was RWD, I’d be sold.

With how tall and imposing Mr. Reuss is, the last thing I think of is 'small', when hearing something described as "Reuss sized", heh.

I think you maybe be onto something here with this chop though. The front of the Sonic and Code130R do share a lot of similarities (outside of head-lights).

Here's an excerpt describing the Concept 140s from http://www.topspeed.com/cars/chevrol...-ar122842.html

[T]he Tru 140S is being pegged as a four-seat coupe that plays the role of a three-door hatchback...the Tru 140S is a car that’s targeting the younger market base, enticing them with an affordable sporty car that’s aesthetically appealing to those that can’t afford high-priced exotics...As a car that Chevrolet describes as "confident, exotic, expensive, and fast," the Tru 140S Concept is affordably priced somewhere around $20,000, making it a really attractive option for a market that wants to have their sports car cake and eat it too.
I like the idea of MonaroSS using the Sonic to loosely base the vehicle on. That brings me to my next point: the gamma platform can be configured with AWD as demonstrated with the Encore. The weight difference between the Encore FWD/AWD is 119lbs. Other vitals are as follows:

Base Sonic RS starts at $21,470
    6M Scion FR-S starts at $24,500

    Sonic LTZ sedan weighs in @ 2806 + 119(AWD)=2925lbs
Subaru AT weighs in @ 2823

    Wheelbase:
    Sonic 99.40
    Encore 100.60
    FR-S 101.20

    Length:
    Sonic Sedan 173.10
    FR-S 166.70

    Width:
    Sonic Sedan 68.30
    Encore 69.90
    FR-S 69.90

    Track F/R:
    Sonic 59.40/59.40
    Encore 60.60/60.60
    FR-S 59.80/60.60

    Height:
    Sonic 59.70
    FR-S 50.60

In conclusion, I believe Gamma could spawn an AWD sport coupe that could rival the Toyubaru twins.
6 speed transmissions are the future

Re: Reuss sized RWD Chevy Coupe

I like this ... but I like the idea MonaroSS had proposed in another thread of a rear-engined, RWD coupe better. Yes, I know that everyone except Porsche has abandoned this layout. But, if it was a small coupe, limited to light three and perhaps four cylinder motors, it could be workable. The advantages would include being able to use existing FWD powertrain and suspension bits, albeit mounted at the other end of the car.

A rear-engined design would also provide some room within the wheelbase for people and stuff, create a RWD coupe out of FWD bits and offers some performance advantages (great off-the-line traction, perfect weight transfer under braking). A lot of the disadvantages of the layout (oversteer!) would be mitigated by a small, light, compact powertrain, modern tires and decent stability control. If it works for the 911, it can easily work here with a fraction of the power.

Monaro SS -- what might a rear-engined coupe look like? Maybe nobody would buy a modern-day Corvair, but I like the sound of the name Corsa!

    DUDE!

I don't think I was alone in thinking that a new car on a new platform should be something completely new and different, and yet this is total AWESOMENESS!!! And proof that that really doesn't have to be the case! TOTAL AWESOMENESS I LOVE IT! I'm still stunned! :
