Press Release: Vintage Chevy Nova 2.0L Packs a Modern Punch

Vintage Chevy Nova 2.0L Packs a Modern Punch
LTG 2.0L Turbo crate engine adds modern dimension to classic hot rodding
    Chevrolet
    2015-11-01

LAS VEGAS – Demonstrating the evolution of high-performance and the latest in crate-engine technology, Chevrolet’s turbocharged 1967 Nova 2.0 is a contemporary hot rod with timeless style.

Chevrolet Performance engineers built the car to showcase the “LTG” direct-injected 2.0L turbo crate engine as an alternative to conventional V-8 conversions. Rated at 272 horsepower, it offers comparable power to the 275-hp 327 (5.3L) V-8 originally offered in the ’67 Nova SS – and more than the 195-hp 283 (4.6L) V-8 also offered in the Chevy II Nova lineup.

These Novas have always been my favorite. "Timeless Style" is right on the money. But its funny how I think about the 2.0 T based on what car its in. In the ATS its seems like such a cool option. In the Camaro or as a crate engine in a hot rod... not so much. Not sure why, it just doesn't belong. But I'm starting to come around.
Park the s**tbox and come with me.

So cool. I was actually wondering when GM might do this, especially as the trend with Modified cars has shifted to include handling. With so much less weigh on the nose, a Nova with the right suspension and this motor would be a hoot to drive!

Imagine an unloved third-gen Camaro sport coupe with this motor and the right suspension and brake mods. Bet it would be around 3200 lbs or less, RWD and capable of a decent size tire. That would be a hoot!

    Cool!!!!

Love the concept of the small turbo mill in the classic car.

There's a guy who put a Ford Ecoboost 4 in a 59 Edsel featured on an old car site. This is a great idea. the 350/350 conversion has become way too common. Multiple thumbs up for originality.

Where these modern GTDI fours would be an absolute blast is putting them in an old TR6/Spitfire type car. Those cars already had great driving dynamics for their day, are very lightweight, and with a modern engine/transmission and updated suspension/rubber they would be a killer performance car!

IMHO kinda "scary" to think a 2.0L "4 BANGER" has better power then a "famous" small block V8
I start thinking various IMPORT classics would be awesome receivers of this crate IE an MGB-GT or say an old bluebird / 210 coupe

    Cool car!

Granted, the I4 packs a punch but does it make the sound?

The more things change the more they stay the same, very cool. I've notice the last several years the 66/67s continue to become more and more popular, and the auction prices are crazy, dammit.
