This came out of nowhere. I wonder if this SUV is for North America, and if so, what will it be based on?

Maybe "Geo" is coming back, but without the "Geo" ....................

I wonder what Nissan this will be, Juke or Rogue?

The old GEO(Suzuki) Tracker quality was hit and miss. I had two friends that each owned one (at different times). The first one got nearly 200k miles out of it before selling it. The second one had the 1st engine go up at 18k miles (replaced under warranty). At 50k miles, the transmission was toast.

Maybe GM is hoping that most of those quality problems have been forgotten. Tracker is good name for a small SUV, just need to make sure the quality is there this time around.

Perhaps it's the name for the U.S.-bound Colorado 7. I love my Tracker, by the way.

There are certain vehicle names that I liked, regardless of the actual vehicle attached to them---names that just sounded like good vehicle names: Avenger, Eclipse, Charger, Avalanche, Firebird----those are just simple good names for vehicles they can be attached to. Tracker fits that mold also. The old Chevy/Geo tracker may not have been reliable, but it was VERY popular in its heyday (I think the 2 door convertible may have been the most desired car by high school and college females of the time.) So, I'm ok with the name if they use it again on a small (smaller than Equinox) SUV/Crossover.

This...I am eager to see if they do anything with. I have said for a while, the perfect SUV/Crossover for us as our second vehicle would be an Encore sized vehicle (maybe a TAD bit bigger but not much) but from Chevy and at a slightly lower pricepoint.

I agree the Tracker name is pretty good. I'd add Explorer and Viper to your list of good names...but I like Avenger and Charger as names too.....Chrysler/Dodge may not always make the best cars but I do like their names the best overall.

GM also trademarked "ANTHEM" for vehicle use on the same day, 10 May.

That was originally pegged as the name of Buick's mid-size CUV.

    One is spelled T-R-A-X.

    The other is spelled T-R-A-C-K-E-R.

That, and I suspect the Tracker will not be sold (at least under the name) in the same markets the Trax is.

Did a little more digging, and found this.

2014 Chevrolet Tracker for sale in Argentina

Though why would GM file a US Patent for a vehicle to be sold in Argentina?
