    Mitsubishi Lancer VS Chevrolet Cruze

    Hi everyone,

Can you advice me what car is better in terms of reliability, performance, maintenance. My favorite choices are:

    Chevrolet Cruze
    http://www.carmaniac.co.uk/overview/.../modifications

    Mitsubishi Lancer
    http://www.carmaniac.co.uk/overview/.../modifications

Will be grateful for your advice!

    Nigel

IMO, it's no contest - the Lancer is a good enough basis to build the world-renowned Evo - in Europe the Cruze flopped because it's down in the budget sector but priced as mainstream.

But this is GMI so all the fanboys will tell you just how fantastic Cruze is.

I don't think the lancer is that good to be honest - but then again the Aussie built Cruze is better than the crap they sent to Europe

You definitely test drive both, but from my experience the Cruze is a better choice. I had the opportunity to rent a Lancer when the truck I used to own was in the shop. I was shocked at how cheap the car was. I actually own a Cruze now and it's been great. No issues at all. I have keyless entry/start, so my car wasn't involved in the recall mess.

Having driven both, I can tell you the Cruze is a lot quieter and gets better gas mileage by far( if that matters to you). When talking performance upgrades, it all depends on how much you want to spend, but the cruze has a turbo that can be easily upgraded and the Lancer will require some type of bolt on(more expensive).

Re: Mitsubishi Lancer VS Chevrolet Cruze

If you don't need AWD, the Cruze is the better choice. It feels solid, stable, quiet inside, and more refined. It actually feels like a class above the other compacts(not counting Focus or new Mazda 3).

Also, the Lancer has a CVT if you are going with the auto and the reliability on those is a bit murky.

In the end is all about personal preference. Drive both(make sure the Cruze is the 1.4 Turbo) and the one that's speaks to you is the winner.

The 2.0 Diesel in the Cruze sound like fun for Mods too.

Trying to remind you that GM is a global company and GMI is an international forum.

I've been hearing for years how "good" these Chevrolets are - then they send us some to try - and we find they aren't!

Mitsubishi doesn't make anything I'd ever consider. I seriously don't understand how they're still in business.

Don't know about where you are, but in America you should never buy a new Mitsubishi. Used ones are dirt cheap.
I've owned a couple. The car will probably fall apart around the powertrain.

    Yes and Yes.

Still confused why are you in GMI. To troll? I don't like Hondas so you won't see me at a Honda forum. You clearly don't like anything GM, so why are you here? Wouldn't you be better at a VW forum or Hyundai Forum? I know I can speak for a lot of us that you would be doing this Forum a great favor. Think about it, champ.

Having owned GM cars (Vauxhalls) for half a long lifetime, I still have some allegiance to the brand - and if they build the right car for me, I'd be back.

My apologies if my stating the "perfectly bleedin' obvious" about GM's international lack of ability it hitting some raw nerves.

Pretending life is all rosey won't keep GM in business.

Last time a saw news about Opel/ Vauxhall, they were doing quite well and improving their image. US and China sales are excellent so yes, GM will be here for a long long time. They might not be perfect, but GM makes great cars. And apparently a lot of people agree.

Like I said, think about it.
