    Malibu Sales

    Hey Everbody,
How are Malibu sales doing? I remember seeing in a magazine that Malibu sales were soaring...and it was on the hot list. Is this true? I have been seeing a whole lot of Malibu sedans on the road but not that many of the Maxx. Wonder why, because I like the Maxx alot and think it is very innovative.

    Re: Malibu Sales

The Malibu is doing very well. They sold 11,345 in February compared to 8,835 last February which is a 28.4 percent increase. Year to date is 25,707 compared to last years 15,992, up 60.7. The last couple months of 2004 were extremely good if I remember correctly. A few months pushing 100% sales increases. While I'm on the topic I was also impressed by the Uplander's sales for February which are already passing that of the Venture (last year). (interesting to note the Relay is already the second best selling GM minivan, I always liked the Relay the best.) The Colorado (and sibling, Canyon) are also pushing heavy sales increases recently.

All those increases are good... lets hope it continues, and expands to a number of other models... God knows, we all know, that GM needs that...

Yeh, the good news is that while overall sales are dim, the new products are building momentum. This year's main problem is trucks - GM needs the new trucks next year.

    Re: Malibu Sales

GM NEEDS new trucks this year, and in a perfect would they would have that but unfortunately even despite the increases in new models sales will still appear rough on the surface because OF the trucks. Speaking of new products...G6 is almost up to the Grand Ams volume of last year. AND the Lacrosse is exceeding last years combined sales of the century and regal. This sounds good (and regardless it still is) but its not exactly like the Grand Am, Century, and Regal were at their sales peak last year.

Now its time to look forward to the March sales results.

Even though sales are dropping now for the SUV's and Trucks I had a realization today when I was driving home from school. I saw a "well off" looking woman in her 40's/50's in a Tahoe with some bling bling. And then it hit me, there must be SO many people out there that must literally be starving for the new fullsize truck portfolio from GM. They have a very loyal customer base who obviously has respect for GMs SUV's/Trucks which is apparent from sales (and market control).....'06 and '07 big years for GM? INDEED!

    Re: Malibu Sales

I remember hearing about a year ago they had to add a Saturday shift to keep up with demand for the Malibu. Nice to see it's even stronger this year

    Re: Malibu Sales

Yeah, I see ALOT around. That's great. Every time I see one, I smile. People must wonder what I am smiling about!?? Well, all these sales increases are great. The Malibu sales are doing good, and even the LaCrosse and the G6. I thought I heard around here that they weren't selling that good. And with the new Cobalt, and Lucurne coming, and not to mention Lausanne, GM will be having hits on it's hands. Yes, I totally agree hat 06 and 07 will be GM's big years. Hold on everybody, these years mark the years where GM sales take off!

25,000 to date from the starting of 05? That's great..I wonder what the total yearly sales are going to be this year. I think last year they were something like 125,000??

    Re: Malibu Sales

The Malibu isn't even in the top 20 selling vehicles for this year. Considering that it's supposed to be competing with the Accord and Camry, that's rather pathetic. Huge increases (by percentage) in sales over a year when it was selling at a ridiculously low rate is not something to applaud, especially since incentives are probably extremely high on the vehicles.

Does anyone have proof that the G6 is approaching Grand Am sales, or that the Lacrosse is selling more than the combined Regal and Century? Incentives are rising on those two vehicles, and the G6 isn't among the top 20 selling vehicles of the first two months of 2005. The Grand Am (and I believe, the old Malibu) were.

    Re: Malibu Sales

I have seen a number of the new Malibus, and lately I've been seeing G6's more often as well (including one yesterday, and I also saw a LaCrosse too). I've only seen one fellow Cobalt owner on the road so far, but I'm sure that will change very soon.

I don't see many Malibus around here. I do see a lot of Maxxs though, which I find pretty odd.
