    Question Impala/Monte spoilers

Why spoilers on the revised Impala/Monte? They look stupid. All spoilers should be optional for the people that want them. That stupid spoiler on the new Mustang is optional, Chevy should follow suit.

    Re: Impala/Monte spoilers

The Impalas and Montes that Chevy has sown thus far have all been SS models. The spoilers are part of the appearance packages that come with that trim level. If you want an SS without the spoiler, I'm sure the dealer would could remove it if you really wanted.

I agree with yoblues that most spoilers do exactly what their name implies in spoiling the looks of most cars. Some look good but most don't. And I think JVal14 is 100% right in that the dealer will remove it if you ask them too. I think that would be one of the first things I did if I bought a new Monte Carlo is remove the spoiler.

    *scratches head*

I coulda sworn that Chevy offers a "spoiler delete" option for the current generation...?

If the vette doesn't need a spoiler, the others surely don't! I also agree that the spoiler on the Monte Carlos, that look like a 1/2 skate board glued to the trunk lid, are stupid looking. GM must be giving their designers double duty by having those Pontiac designers, who work on the rear ends of the Pontiacs, also work on Monte Carlo spoilers.

    Re: Impala/Monte spoilers

Hey I am one of the few who likes the "surf Board" styled wing, even amoung the Monte Carlo Enthusiasts who would rather have the pace car stye. But I agree the spoiler should have an optional delete when ordering, I know mine did when I order her in '99 and I believe the GTO does, so I don't see why the Monte shouldn't have the same option. The only thing is when you have no spoiler you then have the bulge in the middle of the trunk lid where the third brake light is and I am not a fan of that.

    *nods*

It's a double-edged sword kind of thing. When I had my 2000 mc LS, I didn't like the way the back end was, but I didn't like the idea of the flat spoiler either. When the NASCAR style spoilers came out...I almost got one, but didn't....

    Thumbs up Re: Impala/Monte spoilers

That's great if there is a spoiler delete option, I really hate that spoiler. The Monte SS is on my 06 will test drive list as I am buying a new car next year and I want a coupe.

    Re: Impala/Monte spoilers

When I bought my Y2K monte, there was a spoiler delete option.

However I liked the surfboard spoiler, and still do. I prefer it over the Nascar styled one.
And I certainly prefer it over NO spoiler on the Monte.

The Monte without a spoiler has that Pseudo-Lincolnesque thing going on, and I don't like it.

That being said, I'm sure the spoilers on 99% of street cars are cosmetic only.

    Re: Impala/Monte spoilers

Lincolnesque is correct and GM should delete the bump and put the 3rd light somewhere else (rear window?). With the re-design of the front end for 06, maybe Gm can do the rear too. Otherwise, I like the way the rear looks; especially how it merges into the roof line.

Sadly, from what I noticed at the Chicago Auto Show, the rear deck still has the "hump" in it...camoflouged, of course, by the stand-up NASCARish spoiler.

And that merge is _somewhat_ reminiscent of the first gen back end....

    Re: Impala/Monte spoilers

I havent had much use for the rear spoilers on most cars including the Monte Carlo. I drove an Impala LS with that on it and it seemed like it cut the view to the back . If I would have ordered a new one I would have deleted that option.

If you don't like the spoiler just take it off.

And do what with the holes that would leave?
