Does this seem dissappointing to anyone else? It doesn't seem like word is getting out well. I haven't seen many on the road.

Fear not, ramping up production takes time. I have seen a couple on the road (although anecdotal evidence means litte), and more improtantly, I have seen very few in dealer lots. They are introducing this right. Producing a ton of them will only lead to rebates and perhaps eventual recalls.

5422 per week seems pretty good to me. If they produce 48 weeks per year, that's 260,256 cars per year. I don't remember what the Cavalier sold or what expectations were for the Cobalt, but that's got to be pretty close to plant capacity, doesn't it?

Ah, sounds good! Even if it's just one shift. It's great to see GM thinking, and carefully tweaking production. Can't wait to see the HHR in person.

Me too. I have seen a few here in Nocal. I can't wait to see the HHR. Something about it..it's much better then the PT Cruiser. But how much sales can it really have? I mean is 70k units a year worth it?

I find it odd that the HHR isn't being built in the same plant as the Cobalt. considering its on Delta also isn't it? Being built at the truck plant? Hmm...

Yes, it is on Delta. I was courious about why they are building it in Mexico also. I would think that it would be cheaper to build it at the same plant as the Cobalt.

I am not positive but I think that the HHR is being built at the same plant that produced the Sunfire? Is that correct?

I think it is the same plant that builds the Aztek.

The Cavalier and Sunfire were produced in Mexico too, so with the goodbye of both, the factory would be useless.
Sorry China, we'll buy your disposable electronics and lead coated toys, but when we Americans want a cheap car with horrible quality, we get a Chrysler.
