Im pretty sure you can turbo just about any engine. Its just a matter of finding the right size to use. As for computer modding, the market really has to decide if its worth it. Honda has a million things to stick/bolt/replace/whatever for their cars because there is a market for it. If enough people buy them, and start looking for mods for them... Well it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure the rest out I think there is alot of potential in the 3.9, hopefully the G6 coupe takes off and the tuners show some interest in it.

So lets see. Toyota lied about recalls. Lied about their HP ratings... I wonder how much truth is in their milage ratings..

between the G6 GTP, Malibu SS, Impala, Monte Carlo, probably the GP and maybe the Equinox SS and Torrent GTP eventually... i'm sure they'll be good aftermarket mods out sometime soon.

yea i was hoping the G6 coupe takes off and tuners go after them. i think the G6 4 door would make a awsome car if it has a aftermarket hood, a decal, aftermarket lights, etc. but yea lets just hope the malibu SS gets some aftermarket any word on a eqiunox SS??

There is always away to play with the computer. Just have to find someone who has the software and the time to toy with it. As for aftermarket parts, there is a supercharger for the 3.5 that should bolt up to the 3.9 being basicly the same engine. There is no exhaust or other parts, but our sponsors do have a host of things for the 3.5 out now.
I have personaly thought abotu the supercharger...

Re: does the malibu SS 3.9 have potential?

This really depends on US, the enthusiasts, and support from GM and car enthisiast sites around the web to a large degree.

It meets the following criteria for aftermarket support:

    1. Performance oriented engine
    2. To be used in many vehicles (G6, Malibu SS, Impala, Monte C. , 4 CSVs)
    3. Lower cost engine; not exceedingly complex to work on
    4. Has attractive tech-head qualities like cam phasing and variable valve
      timing
    5. Unique character with pushrod architecture that will give big torque down low, not the 6000 or so rpm for max torque ratings in a Honda V6. But it will also rev high.

To make this engine succeed, we need to rally behind it, and more importantly I think we need to support the models that offer the 6 speed manual transmission with it (right now only the GTP G6), because that is the combination that it can really shine with in performance (and get better fuel economy with).

ok i went on the site with aftermarket for the 3800 series engine, and i seen that they have a turbo for 2004 impala SS s/c. so does that mean that if u got the turbo that u would have to take out the stock supercharger?? i herd from this forum that gravana has a cobalt coming that has a turbocharger on top of the stock supercharger. is that possible for the impala SS and monte SS??

I think they should have used the NA 3.9L 240HP V6 in a lower level LTZ model then SUPERCHARGED it to 300HP for the SS. Or see if the 4.8L useing an Aluminum block tuned to 300HP could fit. 300HP 4.8L V8 Malibu SS/330HP 5.3L Impala SS----YAH!

Well, you can put a warp drive on a Cavalier and it is still a Cavalier!

The Impala SS is just a Caprice. The Marauder is just a Grand Marquis. The SRT-4 is just a Neon. The GNX is just a Regal. Personally, I love it when the manufacturers make mean, performance models from ordinary cars.
