    Cruze fit and finish

I test drove a Cruze yesterday and I am very glad that I returned the Focus after a week (the focus' transmission isn't that great!). but I have a huge concern with it the buying a Cruze.
    fit and finish:
where the doors meet the dash: In the LT2 I drove, they were not aligned, is this the case in all of them? or just that one
steering wheel: the plastic towards the bottom was sharp and actualy cut me, or was this one just misaligned?
tail light: on the right side of the tail lamp, the sheet metal was not aligned with the tail lamp. I could see the wiring on this vehicle.

-they only had one Cruze so I couldn't check others..

Anyone have a Cruze have these problems?
Also, what upgrades can I see if I wait till a 2012?

    - From a fit and finish standpoint, I have been rather happy with mine

as far as upgrades for 2010, I would wait:

    - Improved transmissions (better FE)
    - Improved center armrest
    - Adjusted package contents resulting in a lower price for options people normally want anyways

I think they are also adding push button start to it and available nav unit in the Eco model.

When I was buying my HHR, there was a dash trim that was not aligned, I brought it to the attention of the Sales dude who was doing my paperwork, he called maintenance, they took it in and fixed it, there and then

Our Cruze is near as perfect as a car in this class can be ...... the fit and finish I think is impressive.

Sounds to me like you got a "monday or Friday" car.

I sent an e-mail to someone who was in charge of the interior and he's going to send it to the plant manager and a few other people to see...

That is EXACTLY what is killing GM quality. There should be NO 'monday' or 'friday' cars at all.

I agree with that.. We have a new Cruze and I wouldn't give it a chance if it had those issues you mentioned. I had some terrible experiences with GM/Chevrolet small cars in the past and it took much for me to even look at a new one. Honestly, I think being here on GMI peaked my interest initially. I'm also a stickler for Quality and precise fit and finish... I demand the best from Chevrolet period. That said, we've been so happy with our car and the quality (as well as fit & finish) that I honestly have nothing bad to say about it.

It sounds like you indeed looked at a Monday/Friday car. It's no excuse however..

With the plant working 6 and 7 days a week it could very well have been a "sunday" car or 3rd sunday in a row car.

However IF there were wires visible then even the dealer new vehicle prep should have caught that.

On a recent trip to Minnesota I did swing through several GM dealers and noticed a lack of supply for the Cruze. Only about 5 per dealer. Here in eastern Ohio some dealers have 50+ on the lots.

    What part of Wisconsin?

the fox cities, went to a Bergstrom store. The gap between the tail lamp and sheet metal was about 1/8" to a 1/16" depending on the area. Spoke with someone at from GM and he said it's proally a factory problem...As an engineer I caught it not sure if the dealer did. But I will say this, the dealer was very nice and didn't ask me "what can I do today to make you buy this car" THANK YOU GM, both Ford and Kia did that to me.

I've not noticed anything like that in ours.

I am actually surprised that any car manages to leave the factory without a fault. Pre delivery should identify and rectify any problems that are visible ones but when you consider the number of parts that go in to assembling a car it is remarkable how well they come out. I haven't had a look at a Cruze that has been built here in Australia yet to see how good they are but maybe this weekend I will wander down and have a look. The imported ones were quite OK.

I live in a small metro area in GA drive right by the Chevy dealer on the way to work.

The most they have had on the lot at one time is 6 and that was fresh off the truck. Since the Cruze rolled out they routinely only have one or zero on the lot.

In late March we traded in daughter's G6 for a Sentra simply because there was zero inventory within a large radius and marginal inventory in decent metro markets like Jacksonville and Orlando. Even Atlanta only had around 40 or 50.

I specifically searched all of FL and GA looking for a White LTZ RS and could only find one in Miami and it was the Cocoa interior and we wanted black.

Inventory has improved a little in the South but not much.

I have openly posted how impressive Cruze being the sales leader because I am convinced GM could sell an easy 5,000 more units a month with adequate inventroy.

That's too bad since that can't build an extra 5,000/month in Lordstown.
Orion will not be producing for a while yet so no near term inventory solution yet.
