Cruze Diesel - Any News from Lordstown?

Production of the Cruze diesel started two weeks ago.

I'm surprised that we haven't heard anything.

The full EPA ratings aren't out.

There's no mention anywhere of deliveries.

I even searched autotrader and couldn't find one on a lot.

Has anyone heard anything in the past two weeks?

Anyone live close to Lordstown and maybe seen anything?

    Enquiring minds want to know.

I believe they are doing some test runs now to go through the motions, so it will be rolling out soon.

Whats the price of an auto 2LT Cruze? Oh yea, right under $23k. Quite a few diesels under $25k. Perspective is not gained that easy when you look at things through a narrow view finder.

Re: Cruze Diesel - Any News from Lordstown?

A 2lt Cruise in todays Syracuse paper $18,xxx plus tax and tag. $20k msrp

Those vw nuts line up with cash in hand to buy them at $28k.
The GM naysayers and non buyers will have to find a new barb/bone to pick for GM.
Whilst those diesels grow weeds in the dealers lots.................................

See early 80s Chevette, s-10, El Camino, Malibu and Olds Cutlass diesels for examples.
The NON 5.7 models mentioned above!

Wow, what year was the 2LT? Options, discounts? Come on now, I know you are smarter than that to compare MSRP of a vehicle to one with a special deal that is likely a year old model.

Note that these are NEW 2013 air, auto..................
NO sucker/add on sticker here at most area dealers.

I can only think in most areas of Fl., Philly, Ca. that I am familiar with
all have the $2000 sucker stickers so that diesel is gonna be real $pendy! NO rebate to boot either.................
    Time will tell eh?

You folks DID NOTE that the cruise diesel locator link I posted
didn't mention any DISCOUNTS or REBATES off msrp in any of the listings?

Heres a note from the Cruise diesel dealer specs. article.........

Outwardly the Cruze Diesel looks just like a regular Cruze.
The model will start at $25,695, including an $810 destination charge, putting it nearly $1,500 more than its main competitor, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI.

    A 2013 Cruze 2LT automatic has a MSRP of $23,135
That is a full 15% higher than the MSRP you are stating.

When I went to the link provided the only cars in the price range you quoted were LS models.

Jetta TDI base model doesn't include leather seating surfaces or touchscreen audio system, both standard on Cruze 2.0TD.

Maybe so but by offering a lower optioned manual transmission Diesel VW will retain the highly advertiseable lower MSRP for a Diesel option.
I still think GM should have brought both transmission options for this.

It will be very interesting to watch user experienced fuel economy.
It is important what WE use as our "moral compass" and ...
the "measuring stick" chosen for judging progress/success as well.
