Corvette earns top spot in R&T showdown

Road and Track Magazine recently compared several top of the line cars in a Best All-Around Sports Car competition. Be sure to read the whole article, I've included only a small portion of the 'Vette's review here.

Performance, comfort, value. The Chevrolet Corvette scored consistently well in all categories. But its prowess on the track was what really shined on this day. It posted the best lap time around the West Loop at 66.32 sec., taking on the track’s straights with unbridled fury, but dancing through its various corners like a ballerina.

What I like best about this article is their scoring system. I think that it's much more fair than Car and Driver's. There are some categories that are somewhat subjective (exterior and interior styling, and driving excitement), but they carry relatively little weight toward the final score.

I, too, read this article (with glee), and agree that it seems more objective than Car & Driver's similar reviews. But maybe that's because it tipped the favor toward the Vette?

I considered that as well, becuse I didn't want to be hypocritical and be biased myself. But the Vette was beat in a number of categories, both objective and subjective; but in the end it was the best all-around car. There's also the fact that it would have been soundly beaten by the Boxster and 911 without the price factor, and I consider that a fair assesment. Ironically, the Boxster finished higher (after price factor) than the 911.
