Consumer Reports Buys A Cruze Diesel

"Maybe that drive from Boston wouldn't have been much of a hardship, as the Cruze feels like a premium-yet-efficient compact sedan. (I'd buy one over a Buick Verano any day of the week.)

We're putting miles on our Cruze before it enters our formal test program, and we look forward to seeing how it does in our fuel economy tests."

I personally don't hold any respect for CR's automotive opinions. However, I'm posting it here as an offering for the larger GMI community.

Why do they need to take a shot at the Verano? The Verano has noting to do with the article.

They spend half the article dwelling on the VW. I know it is the competition and the leader (by default of not having any competition), but it sounds like CR has already decided that they will say how much superior the VW is.

I hope it does well but there is no way GM will win over any of the TDI/sportwagon sales.
Might only be 24K units/year but that would get them much closer to Focus sales.
