    I agree...would definitely be cool.

IMHO, this is a "no brainer" ... they should offer a convertible version.

Will they? My gut says "no".

But, I've been wrong before...and would gladly be wrong in this case!

    Re: Cobalt Convertible?

well lets ask ourselves this...does it seem to have the body to make a convertible? answer is "a little of both"
they could pull it off but i don't think it'd look that great.

    Re: Cobalt Convertible?

Well from the last photo contest, I personally think the Malibu would look better as a convertable, not to mention since it shares platforms with the G6 it would make it that much easier.

That Malibu convertible from the Photoshop contest looks very Audi-like. I love it.

    Re: Cobalt Convertible?

I don't see much point in a Cobalt vert. They'll have the Sky/Solstice soon (ans I bet they'll get the SS engine in a yr) and they also have the G6 hardtop vert. I think GM already has this low-volume market covered and might even be overdoing it with the sky.

Edit: They should ditch the sky and bring bag a mustang vert fighter.

    Re: Cobalt Convertible?

I think the SS Cobalt should stay as a coupe.

    Re: Cobalt Convertible?

I agree on both points, actually.

A Cobalt convertible will both look nice and work out great since both the Cavalier and Sunfire came in convertible versions. It would be a nice, affordable 4-seat convertible to add to GM's lineup.

On the other hand, GM North America already has the Solstice, Sky, and G6 hardtop convertible on the way. And a droptop Cobalt might steal sales from these cars. Besides, the Civic, Corolla, and Sonata don't make droptops.

I honestly don't know what to think, given these two facts.

    Re: Cobalt Convertible?

I don't think there should be a Cobalt convertible. Didn't the Cavalier convertible die because of a lack of interest compared to the coupe?

    Re: Cobalt Convertible?

I don't think it will happen, but not because it will steal sales from the kappa roadsters. Those will sell just fine.

I dunno, but I kinda figure we'd have heard something by now. If a vert does ever happen, I don't think it's currently in the planning pipeline.
