    Chevrolet Orlando Pre-Production spotted Canada

I was at a ride and drive event hosted by GM Canada when two GM employees pulled up next to the event in Cambridge, ON in a Chevrolet Orlando. I asked if i could take a spin in it. They said no its pre-production. I then asked if I could look inside and take some pictures and they said yes. I only had my blackberry with me so I'm sorry for the photo quality. It was a loaded LTZ model with sunroof. On the outside it looked very small. But it appeared to have a lot of space inside. It appeared to be very space efficient. The two ladies driving the vehicle appeared to be from GM marketing they didn't seem to know a whole lot technically about the vehicle. They did say they had a 6'5" co-worker sit in the third row with no issues. And that he even had more room in the third row than the second. The third row was folded down and the back was filled with personal items so I myself didn't get a good gauge on third row comfort. But they had quite a bit of storage in the back.

    Very cool!

Did you get to test out many other vehicles?

Yes. I was at the event in Waterloo 2 weeks ago and drove the Volt, Camero, Cruze, CTS-V coupe and turbo Regal.

My mother came up for a visit this weekend and she is the market for a new vehicle. She hates sales people so this was a good chance for her. She drove the turbo Regal and Cruze. I drove the two mode Tahoe and Corvette. They had the Volt in Cambridge but were not letting people drive it. They were letting people sit in it and play with the displays.

What's up with the liftgate on the back? The area right below the window looks terrible--it isn't even with the bottom of the black plastic trim on the frame of the windows. Has it always looked like this? *puke*

When the pictures popped up, my first though was, "wait, why isn't it that silvery blue color?" It looks really nice in red, and I bet any other color than what we have been seeing.

*edit* After looking through all the pictures, I can see this doing very, very well here.

Seems it's good, dont know i will go for one as still my expectations are more

    1) Sliding door ( low priority still a have good feature )
    2) Hybrid power train and fuel efficiency ( high priority - my next car will a hybrid or a PHEV )
    3) A Limited 4x4 for snow ( high priority - its Canada and we have snow, its a need )
    4) Fully removable seat ( med priority - i see flat cargo area on folding of seats, i wonder how easy it will be to remove the seats to have clean minivan like area )
    5) Economic ( high priority ) - to see how well it sits below the equinox price range )

Sounds like it was a great opportunity to test out a few cars.

    Any impressions worth mentioning?

It is even. It looks like that because on the window being set in in relation to the black pieces and the angle of the picture.

It was a fantastic opportunity. I got to drive cars that most dealerships likely will not let you.

The Volt was quiet and smooth. The GM rep that was with me switched it to mountain mode to force the generator on. The transistion was seemless. I have fantastic hearing and I could only hear the generator running when next to another vehicle and heard the sound reflecting off of the other vehicle with the windows open.

The Regal turbo was a fun ride. CTS-V was also a blast but the automatic holds that car in check too well. No manual tranny's at the event.

You know, I didn't like it when it first debuted, but those pictures make it look really good. Sort of like a mixture between Traverse, Malibu (2008 model, not 2013) and Cruze. If I had a family and needed room, I would want something small like the Orlando, not something the size of the Exxon Valdez like the Traverse or Ford Flex.

The concept looked much better. With the way cars have been following the concept these days, I expected the production Orlando to look a lot more like it. It's not terrible, it might grow on me, but I expected better looking anyway.
