Chevrolet Corvette Z06 vs. Ford GT

Has anyone else noticed how close the performance is between these two?

    Corvette Z06

    500 hp
    475 lbft
    0-60: 3.9s
    1/4: [email protected]

    Ford GT

    500 hp
    500 lbft
    0-60: 3.8s
    1/4: [email protected]

...the performance is so close and at nearly half the cost. and the Ford GT has the advantage of a supercharger. could you imagind a 600+hp supercharged corvette? it would still cost less than a Ford GT. what are your thoughts on this?

Yes, and the GT is also faster than the times posted. GT will run right behind an Enzo. Someone else said on here that Ford claims when the motor loosens up a bit too, you will notice an increase in power. I'm going to wait until the GT and Z06 are tested together, but I have a feeling the GT will be a little faster. I know I could be eaten for saying that, but it's just my opinion.

Still just 500 last time I heard.

Is the Blue Devil still in planning? It would top the Z06, eh? Or does Blue Devil = Z06?

    http://www.fordvehicles.com/fordgt/features.asp#power
Click on the above, and then click on the link "5.4L DOHC supercharged modular V8 engine". A little window should pop up and you'll find this:
Wanna race? The 5.4L DOHC mod V8 engine packs an astounding 550 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. That’s power comparable to the race-prepared, blue-printed 427 (7.0L) big-blocks in the Ford GT race cars.
Most mags and tests I've seen have rated the car at 550hp.

GT got pushed up to 550 HP before sales started, all magazines I have read that have tested it place within a tenth of the Enzo so far. 11.2 in 1/4.

Thing only thing I wanted to add, the ford may have a supercharger, but the Zo6 has almost 100 more cubic inches. So to say that the supercharger is that great of an advantage is mildly negated by the huge increase in displacement. I'd still rather have the vette for the price though that, and i think they look so hot.

The pushrod LS7 is much more compact (not to mention lighter), than the bulky OHC 5.4 in the GT.

The 'vette, at almost half the cost, you could do some major proformance modfications, even if the LS7 is bored out to its max. The vette is also lighter and smaller, so it probaly has better handling.

The Vette, stock, may not be an Enzo fighter like the GT, but for its price, nothin can come close...
