What happened to the Mustang in the last couple of months? They were down almost with the Challenger, then shot back up almost to the Camaro. Seems odd to me.

Not really sure.
I know that the Mustang assembly line was closed last month for retooling. I don't know if there's any connection there.
I have noticed how much Mustang prices have gone up though. It's easy to get the "affordable" GT up to $40K with options.
I've said this before: Ford and GM had better tread carefully on where they take their pony cars.
Pony Car: an affordable, compact, highly styled car with a sporty or performance-oriented image and an available V8.
They need to keep them affordable, or they will destroy the market.
Camaro has the looks, performance, and cachet to own this segment. The most power or other objective measurements don't always win here. GM understands this segment and now that they are back in it, they are the sales leader.
