One of GM's smarter moves to get a sub-compact car in the market was to push the Aveo. It's good to know that someone in GM realizes gas prices are going up and that they need to continue investment in their small car lineup.

I actually like that artist's rendition better than the current Aveo. This'll definately boost Aveo sales.

Now the Aveo actually looks like a chevy product both front and rear look way better, and makes more of a case to fight off Toyota's stupis Scion brand. Looks like a true import/small car fighter.

I think this will help an already popular product sell even better.

    Re: Aveo/Kalos, 2005 refresh

When is this supposed to go into production? If this is how its going to look the Aveo will be an even better seller than it is right now.

So lets see. Toyota lied about recalls. Lied about their HP ratings... I wonder how much truth is in their milage ratings..

From the Korean Herald article posed in GM Daewoo to add eight new and revamped models over next 15 months, the announcement is due in ''the latter half of the year", which implies Frankfurt premiere for the European market; I'm not familiar with North American show calendar though.

Hmmm good news. Aveo refresh look very nice. Any word on what type of engine will be used? I was hoping they'd switch the Aveo over to the more powerful and more fuel efficent 1.6 or 1.8 liter Ecotec.

The 1.6L DOHC E-TEC II is essentially an Opel's Family II engine, pre-Ecotec generation; I don't think Holden finds it reasonable to switch to Opel's Family I Ecotecs, even if they're more fuel efficient. We shoud expect some design improvements aimed at better economy instead, most probably the ones that have already been introduced for small displacement versions built by Daewoo (see Chevy Aveo Best Selling Compact Car).

(BTW GM was said to relocating the equipment from the Hungarian engine plant to the Russian VAZ; they would rather move it to Melbourne if they wanted to make Family I Ecotecs there.)
