Anyone replaced the OEM tires on the 2010 Equinox as of yet?

Just trying to get an updated feel on pricing for tires for my equinox AWD.. (4 cyl)..

I dug a little deeper on what is has, vs what it will cost to replace..

It has the Michelin Lattidude tour tires p225/65r17 100t m+s 700's.. the local NTB wanted an extraordinary $800 for 4 tires..

My local guy i've trusted forever, wants $597 (tirerack.com was a lot more)..

But then he suggested the Cross Terrain tires at 160 per tire..

I'm at 25k on the car, the tires may last a few more months.. i guess it would be worth it at $20 more per tire if they extend the life by a large amount.

My old grand prix gt used to cost about $404 for 4 new tires (avg lifespan of about 20k).

So is it typical on an suv to pay 140+ per tire, he really couldnt suggest any cheaper alternatives.

    Thanks

You have to link to Direct Tire because they are a sponsor. They block any link going to Tire Rack whether it be for tires or other parts.

Tire rack was a lot more than my local guy, especially after shipping.. they were about $20 more per tire plus shipping.

Haha! Looks like that "great" idea GM had about grabbing the google link when people went looking for the Chrysler 200 after the Super Bowel. Not smart, irritating to put it mildly.
Sponsor or not, it will NOT convince me to go see Discount Tire.

I usually replace OEM tires immediately because typically they are junk, or mediocre at best. Price isn't everything, I'd use TR at least to garner some user reports and test results.

In the last few years, I've had good luck with OEM tires.

I think our last set went about 43k on our '06 Pontiac G6 GT.

I check the pressures about every 2 weeks, and rotate them every 7500miles.

If any Goodyear wranglers will fit your 'nox, they're long lasting tires. The Wrangler HP's that shipped on my 07 Avalanche gave me 65,000 miles of service. The Wrangler Silent Armors on my Caprice (the wagon can take a truck tire, so it gets one) have been good for 50k so far with very even tread wear.

I typically save $100 per tire after shipping. But I don't usually have cars with "typical" tires.

Re: Anyone replaced the OEM tires on the 2010 Equinox as of yet?

IM always amazed- when someone posts that their OEM tires need replacing around 25-35,000.
Maybe they slide around in snow? or something. But Ive never had tires run out that quick.
03 Trailblazer factory OEM- 88,000, now at 157,500- im still on the tires I replaced at 88K.
My 2010 Traverse- nearing 25,000- tires still have deep tread.
I dont do all highway driving... as I live in LA- and see plenty of stop and go rush hr traffic.

Obvioulsly some user input may be a little too harsh on acceleration/braking.
    Aside from that...
you may want to checkout TOYO tires. I know they have that size.

I was interested in this thread- since were looking at the Equinox as a possible purchase....

My OEM Firestones on my HHR were ready for replacing at around 40,000 miles or so. They had a little tread left but they were very poor tires for winter traction so I replaced them a few thousand miles early.

Just so you know the Latitude Tour tires are low resistance tires.

Now, your tires should last far longer than 25k miles. They have a wear rating of 720 so they should last at least 50k miles.

I have 62k on my OEM 18 inch Latitudes on my 2010 Nox. I hope to get another 10k to get me through the summer. So far, they are the best rated tire I've seen and I'll likely get them again. It seems like ALL tires are expensive now anyway.

I'm around 31k miles on mine from my car, 17" lattitude tours .. nearing the end of life on them.. 4/32 maybe, i forget, tread is getting thin anyway.

Good to hear. I don't look forward to dropping $800.00 on tires.

I found that rotating tires makes a world of difference. If you can do it every 5000, that's the best. Unfortunately, I can't do it that often otherwise I'd be in the tire shop every month. But I do manage to make time at 7500 miles, along with an oil change. My Equinox is cruisin smooth! Original tires are at 5/32 last month with 63k. I'm at 65k right now, and ready to rotate one last time.
