Another good story of GM Service

Our 2000 Monte Carlo SS has been a solid car. Lately though the steering was becoming slightly loose compared to what it was not too long ago and when turning, there was a clunking soung. Apparently this is a common ailment on these cars. My parents took the car into GM to have it looked at and fixed. Turns out it needed a new steering shaft (?) and upper control arms on both sides. I believe the steering components were covered under extended warranty, the upper control arms were not. However, GM picked up half the bill for it, and we're grateful and happy. The streering shaft is on back order, but everything is tight and good again. GM continues to take care of us.

That's great to hear, that was really nice of GM to pick up half the cost for the upper control arms.

very nice to hear indeed. Good to know that they do that. I wonder if Toyota would be so condesending.

So lets see. Toyota lied about recalls. Lied about their HP ratings... I wonder how much truth is in their milage ratings..

A Toyota dealership would say something like this if you came in with a problem.

Customer: "Hey how's it going, my steering feels loose on my 2004 *Camry*, could you take a look at it?"

Dealership: "What! Get out of here, nothing goes wrong with Japanese made Toyota products, you trying to run a scam! Toyota builds superior cars with sophisticated OHC engines, ask Car and Driver!"

    lmao

    Too funny.

Thing is, that's why we keep going back to GM, they treat us well. We've bought a few cars from that dealership alone and for the most part we get treated really well, in the service area anyway. That's the most important if you ask me, means GM will stand by their products.

They are assembled in America. I always thought that a car had to be built from at least 75% of the Countrys components. IE: A Chevy is American because 75% of it was built here. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think thats how it works.

Maybe that was it, either a miscommunication between my dad and I. Hopefully our tech guys know this and didn't call something the upper control arm which actually isn't. lol
