The Impala, though, for the price was/is a much better value.
although the XTS reminds me of the old school version of Cadillac Seville.

    Accord Sport manual/2017/Red

Re: The 2014-19 chevrolet impala was the best car to come out of chevy since the orig

I had a 2014 Impala, which I traded for a 2017 Accord Sport 6 speed manual. My Impala was an LS with the 2.5 L 4 cylinder, which I found to be remarkably strong for what it was at highway speeds. I loved everything about the car except that the headlights were dangerously poor. It was as though GM had never bothered to test the car at night on a twisty country road. For reference, check out my earlier posts here and similar consumer complaints on the NHTSA site. The final straw came on a rainy night in Connecticut where I just couldn't see the adjacent roadway at an intersection.

This is something that GM could have easily fixed, but did they? By contrast, the Accord with its standard halogen headlights throws plenty of light ahead and to the sides -- set up like a proper driver's car should be.

It's the "good enough is good enough" approach that will be the end of American manufacturing. Good enough just isn't in today's world.

As much as I have enjoyed the Impala I still absolutely prefer the XTS in every way.
I want a car so violent that the mere thought of full throttle would cause a heart attack. That actually going wide open throttle in would result in nothing less than instant death!

Worst part about it is that IIRC the Impala was originally styled as a RWD car and it would have made a stunning one, but was changed a the last minute to FWD which delayed it until 2014 and took away a bit of the overall style with a narrower body and the need to adjust for FWD.

Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of Americans that buy Toyota, Honda and Nissan sedans every year.

It really was a terrific car. Looked amazing, had a beautiful interior, and, did I mention the looks? It truly blew the competition away.

Damn shame consumer tastes changed and the large sedan is all but dead. I for one will miss the Impala.

If people aren't buying the Impala, the era of the big car is well and truly dead.

I drove one for the first time yesterday, 700 miles. It's my loaner for the week on business. Outside of the incredibly boring silver color, this is as close to perfect as a car can be. It's not the sort of car that I'd buy as I'm single and I just don't need that much room. But this car performs its intended task better than any car I've ever experienced. And mine is probably a lower-level, rental trim.

    The back seat is cavernous.
The trunk can swallow crazy amounts of luggage.
The interior is well appointed, with good materials nicely stitched together.
    Ergonomics perfect.
Electronics are great (better than Cadillac's CUE)

The Impala is a tremendous highway cruiser. I drove 714 miles in just under eleven hours. At the end of the trip, I wasn't tired at all. It was just a pleasure to drive. And, it logged a stellar 34.8 mpg!

It's a real shame that people just don't want cars like this anymore. 95% of SUV/CUV buyers would be totally satisified with this car and would find that it has more room than they need.
Drives a 2019 Cadillac ATS Coupe and a 1988 Pontiac Trans Am GTA.

In the past, I've had a 5th gen Camaro, a CTS sedan and coupe, two 3rd gen Firebird Formulas, a convertible 4th gen Trans Am, a Reatta, a couple of Monte Carlos, an Avenger coupe, a couple of Cavalier hatchbacks, a Saturn SC1, and a Cherokee.

I installed a Flowmaster exhaust that was originally on my traded in '11 Camaro RS. Sounded sweet.

Obviously the trim level is irrelevant to it's intended task, KSR. That's genuine value built in not just filled with gimmicks and flash to distract from a mediocre product.

    Love the mileage you got.

I really liked my brother's 2014 Fleet Impala. This one sounds great. Just too big for my purposes as well.
