    2006 Malibu/Maxx prices!

On the NissanUSA web site there is a link you can click on to compare competitors. Once you have chosen a make and model, it then tells you every price on every trim level. At first I didn't believe the prices, but then I checked a few cars ('06 impala, '06 HHR, '06 G6) and all of the prices that are given are correct (minus the destination charge)! So I looked up '06 Malibu and here is what it says:

    '06 Malibu

    LS $17,365
    0LT $18,665
    1LT $19,365
    LS (Fleet) $20,050
    2LT $20,865
    SS $23,750
    LTZ $24,205

    '06 Maxx

    LS (fleet) $20,210
    2LT $20,965
    LS $21,465
    SS $23,975
    LTZ $24,755

All of these prices do not include the $660 destination charge, so the final MSRP on all of them would be whatever you see here + $660. What do you guys think of these prices? I am just confused as to why the SS is cheaper than the LTZ.....

LTZ= Fully Loaded engine with the LT engine
SS = Top of the Line engine, minus all the features, that's why it's cheaper.

Good. GM lowered the price of both models by about $1,000.

Well does the LTZ look exactly like the SS too, including the 18" wheels? Also, how come on the Impala, the SS is more expensive than the LTZ (or atleast about the same price)?

Those prices are not lowered that much. I think they made the 3.5L engine optional. Those are probably with the 170hp 2.4L engine. Still a good deal, thought. Now, gm, put in a 6 speed so Car and driver will stop laughing.

Listen people. In the past, the "SS" models were simply top-of-the line, every option, hence their high price tag. But now GM is getting smart(er). They now offer the performance package (aka SS) without all the frills standard, which is why the price is so low. Now you can get a kickass engine, 18" wheels, without paying for all the crap you don't want.

    Get it?

Thats the way to do it.

Besides it may perform better without some of those options
    That is speculative btw.

C/D can go ***** themselves. They'll bitch about anything GM does. Sometimes I wonder why I paid for nearly 3 more years of C/D (my subscription runs out May 2008).

Exactly! It's perfect for the customer who just wants the big engine, and exterior mods. And for the people who want to tack on all the options, it's still there for them to do!

    Best of both worlds!
