2001 Blazer Radio Button Won't "Push"

I posted this on an issue someone was having with a 99 Blazer but the date was so old I thought I re-post here.

I just purchased a used 2001 Blazer. The radio was working but I got duped and had to get a new fuel pump.... When I retrieved the car, the radio would not come on. I read the owner's manual and thought it was the anti-theft mechanism. I followed the instructions to disable the anti-theft and, based on what I read and saw, it is now disabled.

However, the radio button won't push so I can't turn the radio on. I don't know if this is related to the anti-theft mechanism and procedures I performed but would appreciate some help.

    Thanks!

You'll have to fill in some of the blanks here...Explain the correlation between being "duped" and "a new fuel pump"?

Last time I checked, the owner's manual did not tell how to disable the anti theft.

Exactly what did you do to the radio?

Re: 2001 Blazer Radio Button Won't "Push"

When I bought the car it was running; I never turned it off - just test drove it. I did turn it off and when I got ready to drive it, it wouldn't start resulting in a trip to the mechanic who replaced the fuel pump. Radio worked until then; because it doesn't work now, I've assumed that the batttery power was interrupted during the fuel pump repair (per owner's manual, this locks the radio).

When I got the car back after the fuel pump was fixed, radio didn't work. The owner's manual for this 2001 Blazer had a section on the different types of audio systems that might come installed in the Blazer. Mine has the AM-FM Stereo with Compact Disc Player and Automatic Tone Control and Theftlock - if anyone has this manual (2000 copyright by GM), the description of the radio's functionality is found on page 3-25.

Since the radio wouldn't come on/the radio button couldn't be pushed, I thought perhaps it was an anti-theft issue and followed the directions to disable the theft-deterrent feature which I found on page 3-43. While my actions appeared to work (the display showed ---), I did this without entering a secret code since I have no idea what it might be. But the radio/button still doesn't work.

Sorry if too much detail but I thought it might help someone track down my issue.

Would really appreciate some guidance - I really miss the radio.

They probably didn't disconnect the battery to replace the fuel pump.

When the theftlock is engaged, the display says "Lok" or "Lock", and nothing else. If your On/Off button won't push in, you probably need a new radio.

Are you sure the radio that was in your vehicle before the fuel pump repair is the same one that's in it now? Sounds like someone has swapped radio's on you.
