Opel CEO Neumann resigns, CFO Lohscheller to succeed
    Autos | Mon Jun 12, 2017 | 10:06am EDT

Opel (GM.N) Chief Executive Karl-Thomas Neumann has resigned as General Motors prepares to sell its European division to French rival PSA Group (PEUP.PA), the German carmaker said.
Neumann, who has revamped Opel's image since taking charge of the troubled carmaker in March 2013, will be succeeded by finance chief Michael Lohscheller, Opel said.

I hope he can stay in GM and hopefully help GM rebuild in Europe, or at least re-start the build up..

Lohscheller to "succeed" LOL thats not in Opel's design vocabulary, best of luck mate your gonna need it, its a pig-in-the-poke. Opel's full of very narrow minded people, FWD is the only dish on the menu at the $25 billion losers Opel restaurant.

All the best Karl he seemed like a very likeable guy, everything you do from now will be a success after Opel, you managed to up the sales but the market share still slipped last year being the best year in a very long time, if Karl goes to Audi thats another problem for him they are Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde brand, their diesels are fantastic and gasoline cars are garbage very troublesome in an era when the diesel is about to banned taxed of the road.

Sad to say l could not warm to anything in the whole Opel line-up personally, the boxy FWD Agila was a good car practical roomy for a small tiny Agila car warrant claims were zero that was the best news in the last couple of decades, but that said Opel have made some absolutely fantastic cars in the past many decades ago that l absolutely loved when you use to turn in a nice tidy profit as well every year at the time, a "profit" is another word not in Opel's dictionary and something l have not seen in decades at Opel as well.

Both PSA & Opel need to make more desirable cars, it is a simple as that. Corsa's and Astra's dull to the point of tedium. The new Astra looks better, but buyers don't want every day tedium, they want thier car to make them feel good when they use it, not just be a sound financial mechanism, not something that halves in value after the first year like an insignia.

When Donald Trump recently blasted foreign car importers, BMW rather correctly responded with "well, build cars your consumers want to buy." Opel Group and PSA need to learn the same lesson - why should they expect customers to buy junk?

I thank him for his contribution of four years of stability and wish him all the best for his next job. Four years doesn't sound that much, but it tells you how a mess Opels management almost was in my lifetime (I'm 48 years old).

Btw, if you no longer need your company car (Corsa OPC), well, I know someone who need a replace for his Corsa GSI.

I think he'll be head of Cadillac of Europe. He's a great asset.

The Autocar report https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/i...tiations-close states he'll stay on Opel's management board.

Oldsmobile Stopped - I totally agree that car makers should build cars customers want - that's why the mainstream brands in Europe build FWD, it's what Europeans want. Neither Opel/Vauxhall nor Peugeot/Citroen/DS are competing in the premium sector, and even there RWD is being cut back by FWD models. It's to do with better internal space within compact external dimensions, not something North American buyers are concerned about.

    dslay04 - Cadillac don't need a head in Europe, just a part-time shipping clerk.
