So, cars are down, trucks/SUV's are up. Who would have thunk it?

Continental sill hovering around 1k/month. I would think they would be happy with that considering the market. I'll be interested in the "pop" the new Navigator gets over the old one, surprised they sold as many as they did.

Analyst predicted Ford was going to be flat in May, amazing what Jim Hackett has already been able to accomplish!

Splitting hairs; Ford rental sales are down 1,700 units YTD, GM's retail sales are up 2,800 units.

    The biggest outliers I see:

    - GMC; YTD sales are up 10,000 units, but retail they are down about 1,000.

    - Cadillac vs. Lincoln; retail at Cadillac is up 1,000 units YTD, where Lincoln retail was up 1,000 in the month of May alone.
(and Lincoln's total YTD increase is 5-times that of Cadillac; 2,500 vs 500 and that is with Cadillac riding the wave of the XT5)

Lincoln is doing well, they have executed a very deliberate turnaround of the brand.

Edit: Another thing that Ford has done right is its crossover strategy. Escape, Edge, and Explorer are a great combination. They have basically every segment except the Trax/Encore covered there. In general, I am not a fan of crossovers but the Edge is one good looking one.

The "EcoSport" is still about 9 months to a year filling-out the entire ranger, where GM isn't going to fill-out the range with the "Blazer" for another 2 years.

    A couple 'fun' comparisons:

    F-Series 76,027 vs. Silverado/Sierra 57,554

Transit, Transit Connect 16,945 vs. Express, City Express/Savana 9,433 (since GM stopped breaking-out the City Express sales)

(and people wonder why Ford has more fleet sales?)

Here is a good one too!

Or we could compare brands that actually are in the same class:

Lincoln Cars 3,874 vs. Buick Cars 5,330

Really? Which Buick car starts at $45k and SUV that starts at $65k?

I am not even a Ford fan, but that is weak sauce.

Is Fleet Sales broken out between what ends up on rental lots and what ends up in Muni/Company Fleets? Obviously Ford has a more robust Fleet offering between the Transit + HD lines. Plus the Police line.

What I find interesting is that it is basically 2 vs 4 models equaling basically the same sales volume.

Well, that didn't take long. Lol.

What Ford has done with Lincoln in this short of time is nothing short of incredible. I really hope they can keep it up. I love cheering for the underdog.
