Ford April sales drop 7.2%
Ford Motor Co. vehicle sales fell 7.2 percent in April compared to the same month a year ago.
The company sold 214,695 vehicles in the U.S., with SUV sales seeing the only increase for any of Ford’s segments. The Dearborn-based automaker moved 73,318 SUVs, a 1.2 percent gain from April 2016. The company’s Lincoln luxury brand’s sales dipped .9 percent, with 9,691 vehicles sold.
Ford car sales dropped 21.2 percent, continuing an industry-wide trend of rapidly declining car sales for the year. Meanwhile, truck sales fell 4.2 percent, a change of pace for the automaker that had seen sales grow for its truck segment for the first quarter of the year.
