    Ford April sales drop 7.2%

    Ford April sales drop 7.2%

Ford Motor Co. vehicle sales fell 7.2 percent in April compared to the same month a year ago.

The company sold 214,695 vehicles in the U.S., with SUV sales seeing the only increase for any of Ford’s segments. The Dearborn-based automaker moved 73,318 SUVs, a 1.2 percent gain from April 2016. The company’s Lincoln luxury brand’s sales dipped .9 percent, with 9,691 vehicles sold.

Ford car sales dropped 21.2 percent, continuing an industry-wide trend of rapidly declining car sales for the year. Meanwhile, truck sales fell 4.2 percent, a change of pace for the automaker that had seen sales grow for its truck segment for the first quarter of the year.

Wasn't Ford selling a lot of fleet this time last year? Probably accounts for some of the decline.

I have to say that I love Ford's new report. Really breaks it down for those who want to know.

I've been seeing a crap ton of tiny tire F250s rolling around so I know demand has been crazy high for them and this certainly shows it. Good job on that part.

0% change in fleet - still strong. Retail down 10.4%. Most of the loss was from cars - down 21%.

Yes they look pathetic with stock tires, we have been doing 315/70-17's on them and they fill the holes nicely. And they are High already!, the 150 cab on the 250 frame makes for a 2" higher jump in already.

But they are raising the ATP's nicely!

    I saw a white one yesterday. 4X4.

It looked ridiculous! I don't even think the tires come up the lower portion of the frame do they? I just laughed but I know most owners will change them out ASAP.

No, Im talking the new sales report in general. I think it started this year (maybe late last year). Just like the concise report with all the data from each segment at the top of each page.

Re: Ford April sales drop 7.2%

Lincoln did alright. Continental looks okay. I don't get why their crossover sales look weak.

Barring major **** ups like last year, Cadillac seems to manage pretty consistent and strong sales from their ONE crossover; maybe that's why? MKC and MKX are good products; I wonder how this bodes for Cadillac's crossover expansion, or if this is indicative of "bad news" for Lincoln, i.e. nobody knows they're still in business or worse, nobody cares.

They could definitely use more dealerships, because there are none conveniently located near me anymore and means I won't bother to look at them. I can't be the only one. It's not like the dealers that exist are gems either, they suck.

What the heck happened to Mustang?

-Not a single Lincoln crossover was up? That is kind of strange considering how hot CUV's are right now.

    -Camaro outsold Mustang.

    - F-series killing it like always, honestly I think they just rename Ford to the F-series motor company.

-I know its a bad car market, but every single Ford car down for the month? Ouch.

-Continental still selling fairly well. I have yet to see one on the road.

-How many GT's is Ford planning on selling a year?

Quite surprising considering how many CUVs Ford has that they were essentially flat.

not sure that's the best comparison. I think the MKC was just ramping.

Its also a bad comparison because the XT5 is more expensive than the SRX.
