    Re: The Z

If priced right it should do well. I'd be surprised if they don’t offer a 300/300 from a T4 and price it close to the BRZ/FRS twins. But overall I like what I see.

    Re: The Z

It's being reported the Z Proto is due in 2021 as the 400Z.

To me the front end is just alright but it is the rear that blows me away. I think it looks phenomenal from the rear-three-quarter view... and those taillights... wow!!!

As far as the interior, I think it could not be a more fitting modern take on the original without going overly retro.

VERY nicely done considering I have not been too keen on Nissan's styling language for several generations and the last Z car that really excited me was the 1990. Here's Nissan's introduction video for the Z Proto:

Agree. Front okay, tail really nice. Reminds me a bit of the 1990-95 Z, which was by far and away my favorite version and really the only one I'd ever want to own.

In the past, I've had a 5th gen Camaro, a CTS sedan and coupe, two 3rd gen Firebird Formulas, a convertible 4th gen Trans Am, a Reatta, a couple of Monte Carlos, an Avenger coupe, a couple of Cavalier hatchbacks, a Saturn SC1, and a Cherokee.

    Front - meh
    Rear - nice
    Performance potential - really nice

Overall, I prefer the Supra over this.

Agreed, the front looks bland to me (though might look better in real life), but they did an outstanding job on the back! About time they redesigned it. I'm certain there will be a lot of fans that have been waiting a looooooong time fore this, was it the mid 2000's last time they updated it?

Nice touch how the air vents in the center stack mirror the shape of the LED tail lights.

They nailed the tail lights. Front end is kind of ugly. They could have done a much better job on it.

The Z still has a following...all the 370z owners waiting years for the latest are ready to re-up, as long as they don't have 5 kids by now.

I know the Z has a following but the current model has had an 11 year run longer if you count the 350Z which shared its platform. Sales year over year as expected have dropped to the point of almost non existent. I imagine a good chunk of those buyers have moved on. Nissan really should have done something with the Z a long time ago. Granted sales have nowhere else to go but up but I am wondering if it will be as big of a hit as some are predicting.

I figured that the drop in sales was because everyone who wanted a Z, had one. The special variants other than the NISMO weren't enough to pursuade someone with say...an '09 370Z to upgrade to a '17 370Z.

And I think we all can agree that this fake white letter tire trend needs to die...again

    Re: The Z

Zs have a big following. A new version is bound to generate interest and tap pent up demand. Kind of like the 2010 Camaro. How deep that demand will be, especially in this market, is hard to say.

There's only one thing, well actually two, that I don't particularly care for in this new Z. The grille and its big blocky shape and those glaring voids of nothingness under the headlights. The rest is really great.

Nissan Admits New Z Sports Car Won’t Come To Europe Or UK
    Grandtournation
Last night we were so very excited to see the new Nissan Z Proto, which will carry 98% of its design over to the replacement of the 370Z. But accompanying this news is some very sad news for people who reside in the UK and rest of Europe. The new Z will not be coming to the UK and Europe, Nissan bosses confirm.
The Proto sports a twin-turbo V6 coupled to a good old DIY manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. Unfortunately though, in a statement from the marque, they’ve confirmed that it won’t be coming to us here over the pond due to ‘a shrinking European sports car market and specific regulations on emissions’ saying there was ‘no business case’.
    This is too bad
