    Updated Genesis G70

Genesis on Wednesday unveiled a heavily updated version of its G70 sedan that we expect to see in showrooms next year as a 2022 model.

Genesis has given the G70 a new look that aligns the small sport sedan with the rest of the automaker's lineup. This common brand identity will be important as Genesis continues to push into new markets.
The first images of the facelifted 2021 Genesis G70 have been unveiled, showcasing a striking new look fitting of the brand’s current design language.

With this in mind, the front of the updated G70 includes the Korean automaker’s new ‘Quad Lamps’ headlights that give the sports sedan a particularly athletic appearance. The front end also includes the Genesis signature crest grille as well as shapely new air intakes and a large lower grille. Fewer changes have been made to the sides of the 2021 model but there are air extractors just behind the front wheels
Moving to the interior and we find an enlarged 10.25-inch infotainment system that includes an exclusive Genesis UI design and supports over-the-air wireless updates as well as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Valet mode. Genesis has also positioned the wireless charging pad horizontally rather than vertically. Besides these changes, everything else seems the same.

“The new Genesis G70 will engage customers with its dynamic design and the latest innovations in safety and luxury,” a Genesis spokesperson said in a statement. “We are thrilled to reveal more detailed specifications next month.”

Powertrain details about the facelifted G70 remain under wraps but it is understood the entry-level 2.0-liter four-cylinder will be replaced by a new turbocharged 2.5-liter producing 290 hp and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. The flagship engine will likely still take the form of a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with 365 hp and 376 lb-ft (510 Nm). Unfortunately, the manual gearbox will be dropped from the range.

I like the Genesis products, and I like this overall...still, something about the front end/headlights make it look like it is...unfinished?

This wears the new design language better than any of their other cars...Hopefully this sells well, it really looks good inside and out.

I like the last design language form Genesis but i'm not sure it will rise sales significantly. I think Genesis is selling around 80-90 000 vehicles (around the world). GV70 will probably rise that sales number also but it is far from companies like Lexus, Mercedes or BMW on global scale.

The old design language looked too derivative/generic, like a mishmash of other brands old designs...this new one is more distinctive IMO

Lack of crossovers is killing them right now, I expect it to take off once they go online with the crossovers. But the GV80 isn't the volume crossover, it'll have to come from a 2 row GV70 priced in the high 40s to mid 60s...that's where their volume is going to come from

I'm still not in love with that grille shape, but it's an improvement in my eyes. Looks more premium than the outgoing design, which always looked cheap to me - especially the rear.

The smallness of the G70 fits the grille better because it was horrible on the G90 & kinda bad on the G80/GV80

While the sharper sheet metal and the upgrade of the base motor to the 2.5T should help some, sales likely won't improve dramatically due to the inherent flaw that it shares with the ATS - a cramped interior (befuddles me why Genesis made the exact same mistake).

Despite being at the next price point, the new G80 likely will outsell the G70.

IDK, maybe...I don't really buy "cars" for their backseat space, my CUVs/SUVs sure, but sedans don't really care about room behind me, as long as the car looks good and is comfortable to drive, I'm fine with that.

Rambling aside, I genuinely don't think compact sport sedan buyers care about interior room in the back, can it carry 2 others in a pinch, sure...but I don't think it's a disqualifying trait.

Yeah, the G90 is horrible looking. It looks like a car you'd see in an 80s spoof movie as "the new luxury ____ sedan" especially with thos godawful wheels.

I also like the new design (latest G80).Rumors are there will also be a station wagon of G70.
And there are some spy shots of new G90.
What i find strange is that rumors suggest they will keep 5.0 l v8.
I think Genesis should offer some more powerful engines in their lineup (G80,G90, GV80).

Genesis has bold new looks. I hope it works for them. I dont buy sedans any longer but rather cuv s for the family so Im not sure my opinion even counts...yet the look is bold on the G70 and I wish them well.

We need more bold designs. The worlds moving to ev s. It will be interesting to see how far behind if at all genesis is on the ev revolution.

Model 3 awd vs genesis g70 ? Is there really a case to chose the g70?

I tend to think the model 3 wins the purchase?

Ev revolution is strong and I believe the model 3 is holding residual values that trounce the genesis

The grille is still a bit much, but overall, I think they've cleaned up the look. I liked it before, but I like it better now.
