Toyota Supra Gets Modified 9 Ways, from Mild to Wild, at SEMA
    CarandDriver

    • Toyota is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Toyota Racing Development (TRD) by bringing nine modified 2020 GR Supra cars to the SEMA show in Las Vegas.
    • The cars displayed range from stock to heavily modified, with a variety of radical suspensions, body kits, and over 500 horsepower.
    • Our favorite is the Heritage Edition, a fifth-gen Supra that looks just like an evolution of the 1990s-era fourth-gen model.

Huge fan of the Heritage edition....takes everything wrong w/ the Z4upra and makes it right.

I find the production car more attractive than the Corvette C8, -15-year old would hate me for this-, but these SEMA concept are even better looking

I wasn't a fan of the production Supra at rollout, but like I said, that red "Heritage Edition" w/ the retro tailights and modified '94 spoiler, does something for me...would I say i'd take it over a C8? Not really as there's something about an attainable Mid Engined, high powered sports car that speaks to the kid in me.

To me the C7 is still the best looking Corvette and supercar. I prefer its proportions to any midengine supercar, but I understand why they had to move the engine behind the driver.

That awful spoiler looks just as bad as it did in the 90's!

The red throwback Supra reminded me how much I didn’t like the 1990s Supra.

Such insight you have....I think there's a niche for cars like the Supra, they just missed the mark emotionally with it. Its BMW roots could've and probably would've been forgiven had there been some sort of nod to previous Supras...the Heritage edition with its throwback spoiler and lighting would've definitely moved the needle for some. The current car they have wearing the Supra badge has nothing Supra or even Toyota ish about it sans the badges.

Niche is key. The BRZ should have taught Toyota , you cannot get away passing other people’s stuff as your own.

The Toyota is the 86, the BRZ is the re-badge, but if that taught them anything, it is don't R & D it yourself, just put your name on someone else's product, which is what they did with the Supra.

It uses a flat H-4 engine, I highly doubt it is a Toyota design or it is Toyota engineered. It is also manufactured in a Subaru plant.

If it were up to Toyota neither would have happened

IMHO YES I don't like that Toyota is "FARMING OUT" the sports coupes BUT the OTHER choice is a GM like world of NOTHING but SUVS

would have been NICE if Toyota was more INVOLVED in the cars as they "feel" like a BMW/Subby and NOT a Toyota/other oem Joint venture
