    Mazda MX-30 EV unveiled

Mazda has officially revealed the 2020 MX-30 crossover, the company's first all-electric model.

The EV features 'Freestyle' rear doors, hinged at the back with no B-pillar. The design takes inspiration from the RX-8, scaled up for a high-riding model.
The company says the MX-30 is equipped with a new electric drive technology referred to as e-Skyactiv.

Agreed, that overhang ruins what would be an attractive design.

I disagree, the first gen Mazda 6 was a landmark product. So was the last gen RX-7.

The last gen RX-7 was so good looking, GM copied it with the Corvette C5

The range is not great, but at least other companies are coming out with EV's while GM just talks.

This is the most blatant In Your Face reference I've seen yet on the impending arrival of 'Skynet'. Or maybe I'm just being too paranoid.

Either way though, it's still scary.

It sounded pretty good until I actually said it.

To be fair, this is Mazda's first EV while GM's first EV (Bolt) has been on the market for a couple of years now. Even longer if you count the Volt. GM's problem isn't that they don't have EV, it's that they don't have EVs that appeal beyond the perceived "tree hugger" niche.

The only thing that's remotely interesting about it is the possibility of a Wankel range extender.

not a bad looking thing once some details get "FIXED" like the beltline to hood mas alignment and the front axle 1/2 way to rear axle
but EVERY EV has the "inspired by Tesla" look and IMHO it is not a good look in most cases

I think that the ladies will be really attracted to the optional "Wankel Extender".

I have never once thought the c5 looked like the rx-7. I've seen them both and besides having 4 wheels and being cars both available in shades of red, they look nothing alike.

A stretch would be a understatement.
