Lucid Air Electric Sedan to Have 500+ Miles of Range

Lucid Air electric car is going to have insane EPA range of over 500 miles
    by Fred Lambert

Lucid Motors’ first electric car, the Lucid air, is going to have an EPA-rated range of over 500 miles on a single charge, according to an independent test.

Earlier this year, we interviewed Peter Rawlinson, CEO Of Lucid Motors, and he revealed a few new details about the production version of the Lucid Air to be unveiled in September.
    More at link above.

Great to see a US-based startup (esp. one that is not exclusively China-backed) challenging the efficiency lead of Tesla. Competition is good for everyone here. Official unveiling on Sep 9. Production is supposedly a bit over a year away but Lucid, in my opinion, is shaping up to be the most legitimate of the new crop of EV startups.

Hm... I just double-checked and it works for me. Perhaps Electrek was temporarily down at the time you tried?

Link worked for me. Lucid CEO was just live on FBN. Fairly interesting interview.

Sounds to be an interesting vehicle, let's see if it's for real!

True that. But, to Lucid's credit, they've kept improving the tech so that the delay doesn't mean it's outdated when it gets to market. At least they are putting that Saudi money to good use.

In their defense...it may be many moons away, but it is going to be fewer moons than the 1st Caddy EV. For all the Ultium bluster, they're still a while out from putting the first Ultium car on the road.

Good for them. Now just keep plugging along and get the thing here instead of just talk.

The Hummer will use the same battery tech if I’m not mistaken and it’s production is expected to start fall of 2021.

Hyperion (https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/12/succe...car/index.html) laughs at the paltry 500 mile range. Fueling is faster too if you can find a station.

Pretty cool, though I feel like hydrogen will never make it due to the mentioned lack of infrastructure.

HUMMER will be the first Ultium EV, at least you can get one of those if you do not want to wait for the Cadillac.

I just hate it when people use the word "insane" to describe things as in "insane EPA mileage." Drives me crazy.

Like Mr Akio Toyoda said, all that needs to happen is for the $13T global hydrogen fueling infrastructure to "manifest itself." Because no automaker is going to build it and no oil 'n gas company is going to build it either.

BTW Elon Musk laughs at vaporware.
