Christian Meunier brings to Jeep vast global experience that he picked up from Ford, Land Rover, Nissan and Infiniti at a time when the SUV brand is expanding its footprint overseas.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles on Tuesday named Meunier, 51, as global head of Jeep. He had been chairman and global president of Infiniti Motor Co. since January. Mike Manley had been in charge of Jeep before replacing the late Sergio Marchionne as FCA's CEO in July.

Jeep is a titan in the U.S., but there's plenty of room for growth in other markets. The brand's lineup is expanding with the Gladiator midsize pickup that's in the early stages of its rollout, and it soon will be joined by the Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer and another three-row Jeep.

Jeep has more products on the horizon, and more markets to conquer. Glad they brought in someone from outside the company that has deep experience to lead the way.

This speaks loudly to how Manley is tackling the job compared to Marchionne. Sergio was almost a machine in having so many direct reports answering directly to him. Right now Manley is continuing to run Jeep while he tackles the CEO role. In bringing in someone to fill that role directly, and eliminating the overlap, he's perhaps signaling that Chrysler will go back to having a more "traditional" corporate structure.

Regardless, bringing in new blood is never a bad idea. Now that the FCA's passenger car boss has retired, perhaps Manley will also bring in someone to take over responsibility for Chrysler-Dodge-Fiat and help those brands expand (Dodge) or regain (Chrysler, Fiat) their footing in the marketplace.

True, and watch for Jeep's "Sierra Denali" and "Yukon Denali" along with many other "GMC" vehicles to fill out the "White Space" for Jeep as it becomes one of three competitors to create their own "GMC" Truck and SUV brands while GM continues to fail in building GMC into what it can become.

New blood may be good... but they need to have an affinity or knowledge of the auto industry and a desire thereof, not being an outsider such as Coke can Dan. IMO of course.
