Ford closing engine factory in Bridgend, Wales

Ford's engine plant in Bridgend will close in September 2020, union sources have said, with the loss of 1,700 jobs.

This is due to several factors - the downturn in demand in Europe for diesel engines - loss of the engine supply contract for JLR as their own Ingenium comes on stream - the uncertainty over prolonged delays in Brexit - future reductions in demand for petrol/gasoline engines as EVs increase in popularity.
