Under its “330” Product Plan, the company aims to launch more than 30 new Ford and Lincoln vehicles in the country in the next three years, more than 10 of which will be electrified.

The first in the long list of new models is the all-new Escape midsize SUV, which in China gets a unique front end designed specifically for the world’s largest car market.

The Chinese-spec Escape features a bigger grille that widens toward the bottom and blends into the headlamps for what Ford calls “a sleek and majestic look.” Also different from the model sold in the United States (and in Europe as the Kuga) is the “Nebula Shield” hexagonal grille mesh with a chrome finish and black highlights.

Chevy Equinox is pissing all over it

US March Sales Charts
No4 Chevy Equinox 37,340 sales up +16.9%
No16 Ford Escape 21,998 sales down -19.6%

It has winner written all over it!

When GM start styling the cars making them more aesthetically pleasing they end up with winners.

The older boxy old Escape was the last time Ford led this class many moons ago the Escape has been slowly slipping into obscurity in the sales chart, Ford Chinese Escape still looks dull as ever very feminine a soccer Mums special.

It's nice without being class leading and I mean that in a positive way because GM has a bad habit
of overshooting the target, over delivering and, over charging. This product is none of those,
it looks good without being overdone and has the right spread of power, features and trims.

I wouldn't be so hard, from 2013 to 2017 the escape increased from 295 K sales to 306-308K sales
and then declines last year to 277K only because Ford stopped defending it with competitive
financing and and incentives to match newer vehicles. During that 2013-2017 time, Escape
and MKC production was well over 400K at Ford's Louisville plant while Ford supplied MKCs
to North America and China.

The priority was and still is higher profit vehicles - f150, Super Duty, Expedition, Navigator,
now, Explorer and Aviator along with Ranger...none of those new vehicles required closing
Four plants.......Ford is taking the slower route to get Mexico production and vehicles right,
next year will see an onslaught of products like we have never seen.

Ford is guilty of letting European and by extension global products languish as evolution of
2003-2008 vehicles, that flew in the US six years ago but not now, not anywhere. I see that
there is a barage of new product also planned for Europe which should start addressing some
of the terrible short comings with products.

China has been hard on several brands but Ford's old line up was probably stung the hardest
which is probably the catalyst for change elsewhere, the Chinese turning their backs on Ford
is probably the best kick in the pants they needed.
