New electric AWD Ford Mustang with Tesla-inspired interior set for UK debut

AN ALL-new electric Ford Mustang with an interior inspired by Tesla is set for a UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2019 next month.

An all-electric Ford Mustang is set to debut in the UK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2019. The classic Mustang has been converted by a UK-based electric start-up Charge. To achieve the conversion the firm is using officially licensed shells of 1960s Mustangs in both Fastback and Convertible variants. The electric vehicle is then built around these bodies, giving these retro vehicles a new lease of life.

Powering the gorgeous car is a 64kWh battery pack with a 300kW electric motor which supposes a 50kW charge rate connected by a DC fast-charging system.
According to reports the car can be configured in either rear-wheel or all-wheel-drive.

It can to 7,500 Nm of wheel torque and 1,200 Nm of motor torque, which contributed to a 0-62mph acceleration rate of 3.09 seconds.

Despite the significant battery pack size the car is expected to achieve a real-world range of around 200-miles.

There is no word on which scale the battery pack is tested on (NEDC or WLTP or EPA).

UK-based startup Charge partnered with Arrival, known for their electric trucks used by the Royal Mail, UPS, Roborace, and Michelin to electrify this American classic.

Engineers who previously worked at Williams F1, McLaren Automotive, and Jaguar Land Rover participated in the project that amounts to more than a simple EV conversion.

While the exterior staying true to the classic Mustang silhouette, the interior looks inspired by the Tesla Model S.

The car features a large portrait touchscreen in the centre of the dashboard and an oval digital driver display.

Just 499-units are set to be made and are set to cost a whopping £300,000 ($381,000 USD).

The car will make its UK debut at the Michelin Supercar Paddock at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
