    2021 Lucid Air

Production 2021 Lucid Air Available From $72,500, Rated Up To 1,080 HP And 517 Miles Of Range
    Carscoops
BY BRAD ANDERSON | POSTED ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2020

Almost four years after being showcased as a prototype, the 2021 Lucid Air has been unveiled in production-ready spec. The advanced electric sedan brings with it class-leading technologies, an eye-catching design, and four different variations suiting different budgets.

As recently revealed, the Lucid Air has a 113 kWh battery pack coupled with a pair of electric motors producing up to 1,080 hp. In flagship Dream Edition guise, the Air can accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 2.5 seconds and sprint down the quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds at 144 mph (231.7 km/h). It has a limited top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

Other variants to be offered include the entry-level Air, the Air Touring, and the Air Grand Touring. The Air Grand Touring’s dual electric motors are rated at a combined 800 hp, allowing it to hit 60 mph in 3 seconds and complete the quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds at 133 mph (214 km/h).
It can travel a record-setting 517 miles (832 km) on a charge with the available 19-inch AeroRange wheel and tire package. By comparison, the more performance-focused Air Dream Edition has a range of 465 miles (748 km) on the available 21-inch AeroDream wheels or 503 miles (809.5 km) on the smaller 19-inch wheels.

Well, the rear seats got dumbed down a lot.

I also see they’took the idea from Escala of using men’s suiting material to blend with the leathers.

I am on the border of genius and crazy. I keep trying to cross over into genius, but ICE keeps sending me back to the crazy side of the border.

It presents as a tech wonder compared to Tesla. Better mileage, charging and performance. Things are going to get more interesting in this segment, let’s see if the Audi e-Tron gt adds anything from the Taycan. Finally some choices, although cost is still too high.

Is that just a modern description of Rolls-Royce's traditional use of "West of England Cloth" ?

And people say the S is a weird looking car. The sun visors are my favorite part.

The technology is awesome but remember that Tesla is getting ready for a pretty significant upgrade in the S as well.

Lucid looks ok, but Lyriq will outclass it.

    Looks pretty cool, nice job!

With performance stats like that it makes purpose built ICE supercars like Ferrari's (and the C8) look pointless unless top end speed is your game (and where are you driving that you can drive your supercar at 200 mph and pull 1.2 lateral g's around a corner?).

With all of these massive sunroofs, what changed that it doesn't make the car a greenhouse (meaning let so much sun in that the car is super hot)?

Well, they improved that horrible dash-to-axle ratio from the concept, but the dash-to-axle ratio of the Mazda3 appears longer. I love the solid piece of glass stretching from the windshield over the whole greenhouse that looks great.
I am on the border of genius and crazy. I keep trying to cross over into genius, but ICE keeps sending me back to the crazy side of the border.

The Lucid Air will initially be available with seating for three adults in the rear but at a later date, it will be offered with executive rear seating that includes two seats that can recline up to 55 degrees.
    Maybe not....

Cadillac has a target now that must be met or exceeded. Styling is subjective, but the tech is great. Let's see how the Tesla tech being announced matches these specs.

That rear foot well is deep as hell, but that price makes me sick to my stomach. Also, I think they should've shifted focus and led with the crossover

Indeed, I guess Hummer will show us how well or badly the Ultium battery system compares from a charge and power density to the latest.

We are yet to see Tesla battery day.

With this, the segment will really be heating up. It's an impressive ride to say the least.

It's a bit too early to call that win. I highly doubt Cadillac is going to be able to match the efficiency of this car.
