And if I were a Chevy guy I wouldn’t get too excited. That sound you heard in the background when he announced pricing was the Camaro getting its head cut off. It’s an impressive sticker price, but it also just signaled the death of almost every other GM performance car priced below it because they are all no more or little more practical than this is (I’m looking at you Camaro and ATS....respectively) That leaves no room for a ZL1 or even a loaded 1LE SS, which arguably leaves no room for the Camaro, and I think that is the plan at this point.

This is one area in which I would have to agree with you, it being an ugly car actually isn't coming from the mid engine proportions of the car. I think it is the odd mixing of C7 and Lamborghini design language of the car, also really I like how a leak said sub 3 seconds to 90. However the press release says approximately 3 seconds (so maybe 3.1 or 3.2 seconds) and with Z51 package. So the car is going to launch better giving it a better 0-60 time which is a big marketing point however that is it. The rest of the performance gain for this car comes from the DCT and the added horsepower, will be interesting to see how things shake out with this car going forward though so far it is roughly what I expected.

Ehh, ponycars are a different market. Same with performance luxury sedans.

The "visualizer" is pretty cool, shows colors/wheels/etc.:

It's hard to make an exotic that doesn't cost exotic pricing with exotic materials and engineering, it will never be as alluring. So it will be an interesting thing to watch unfold. Detroit is very good at making things cheaper and more reliable (don't laugh, it's true!), but it has a harder time making NEW cultural icons that don't rely on strict adherence to tradition and they tend to struggle when they try to immitate.
Did you really call a renegade a cultural icon? Lmfao, yea GM has no performance chops or icons. Gtfoh.

It doesn’t matter, with the level of impracticality of the current gen Camaro it’s barely a pony car at this stage and almost certainly has worse sight lines looking forward and to the side, less interior space for the driver and front passenger, and it definitely has less trunk room. Camaro 1LE SS with the suspension package is now just a way to go considerably slower for about 10k less in a car that really isn’t any more practical. ZL1 just became an outright waste of money.

To be blunt this was a signal that Camaro is dead whether you heard it or not. Time will prove this right.

Holden have announced that it will be available in RHD. I quite like the look of it and i gave it an 8. I marked it down because it is a little generic (ie Ferrari, Mclaren like). As a driver I like the look of the interior but it looks like it isolates the passenger a bit too much.

They did a pretty good job on the exposed engine cover. The view through the glass looks great.

For everyone who wants to read Holden's press release: http://media.holden.com.au/media/au/..._corvette.html

I was hoping GM might have been ready with some RHD pics, but no luck.

    I thought the same

    Camaro is dead

There is a lot of speculation of what price it will be when introduced in Aus

I believe they can get it here under 100k and if so its a bargain

Well, we've heard all the rumors. I think it has zero to do with the Corvette however. Corvette starts at $60k and will rise from there. Camaro starts at $26K. According to your logic why would anyone buy a Mustang either. Just go to a Corvette.

    Wow,

what I immediately thought about was the comparative lease prices
for a C8 Vs say Camaro ZL1. If what you say is even half true then,
a lot of people are going to check the box marked C8, I know I would...
