(with about 100 miles on it), was flogged mercilessly by the dealer's porters.
The engine bay also emits a burning clutch-like smell while all of the stickers and paint burn off. It took mine a good 8K miles before the smell went away. When I complained at my first service they said that the smell would be there for around 15000 km and they weren't far wrong !

It doesn't look like it, but it needs a major detailing. The paint is full of swirls. I'm planning a full clay and buff.

If by "detailing" you mean washed - then yes.

Anyway, I don't want some moron buffing my paint, I'd rather do it myself.

Was the car somewhat clean when you picked it up after they shipped it?

    Yes, it was clean.

The truck driver commented that it had a "mean growl". When picking it up at the dealer he said, "I asked them, an SS what".

The problem is that they will typically apply a glaze but not a wax or sealer. The glaze does a great job of hiding swirls and scratches and is relatively easy to apply but if it is not sealed by a wax or a synthetic finishing coat (which take longer to aapply) then it comes off in the first few washes.

My wife's Audi was a demonstrator and looked perfect when it left the showroom but after a couple of washes a number of scratches and swirls appeared on the rear bumper. I claybarred the whole car, then applied a glaze and then a carnauba wax and all is good again. I have used Zaino (which I had to import at the time) which is a synthetic and should last longer but I'll see how the carnauba wax goes.

z284ever, How bad were the swirls - I can't even see a scratch in my white duco, let alone swirls.

Any Holden is going to have a lot of rail dust. Both my GTOS were ridiculous. I have never seen so much crap in the paint.

I'd be interested to hear from the GM support woman who monitors the Chevy SS forum site . She seems to respond quickly to some concerns . Mind you this was a couple of months ago , last time I was on the site. Why not follow up and see if there is a change planned for the seat next year , or a remedial measure offered by Chevy on this complaint ??

Sweet car !! I too love the exhaust sound of the SS and LS3 combo.....does not sound the same to me as a Camaro SS. White is the best color. Near my house are dealers with at least three white ones.....all autos. The only stick I've seen in SoFla was a black one.
The polished wheels are not my style though.......use those on your snows [sure] and put multispokes OZ style on it [only my opinion].
