I missed the one I was going for by literally a couple of hours. It was pulling away when I got there!

now I'm either going to wait to get a 16 or get another 15 once they roll out incentives again.

One other note. I mentioned previously, that the black manual trans SS I test drove locally had a tricky clutch and I could smell burning clutch in the dealer parking lot. I mentioned it to the salesperson and he said that's just some shipping stuff burning off. Anyway, there is no such issue with mine. I suspect that the black one. (with about 100 miles on it), was flogged mercilessly by the dealer's porters.

G8 doesn't have homlink either, but the previous owner must have installed it because it's on my 2008 GT visor and looks stock. I assume there is a kit or something out there.

Homelink is very much a US only system. If you look on their website and choose any region except US, there is basically no information about what Homelink is. As it is not available or have support in Australia, it has never been designed into Holdens. GM was obviously not prepared to spend extra money for the few thousand SS's they will sell.

Re: My Chevy SS M6, Day Two.

My ex bought some type of adapter and connected it to my garage and then he downloaded an app on his iPhone. I'm not sure if it was a home link app or Qlink or something it was called. It controlled my garage like an opener. It didn't take long for him to install it either. Just an FYI for you man!

I told my brother to read your write up and he's sold! If I wasn't waiting a year to see what a lightly used 16 CTSV will go for I would probably be on an SS too right now.

    Thanks for sharing!

That's weird that it doesn't have Homelink. Crazy. Is it an option, or does the SS not offer it at all?

Re: My Chevy SS M6, Day Two.

In drive settings, the sensitivity of the collision detection is settable off the steering column menu stalk with display between the instruments. It's exactly the same as the Volt and I presume other GM vehicles with this tech I backed it right off to one 'car' which meant if it goes off you are probably closing a bit fast on a car in front that is stopping. Otherwise, dumpsters in parking lanes were setting it off.

On the bolster -got me stumped. I've never heard of anyone complaining about any Holden seat in the last two decades for anything like this unless you have it adjusted wrong. The squab inclination is settable, I believe. If you set the squab height off the floor so your left leg is in slight contact with your foot flat on the floor in your normal seating position I can't see how it can constrict your blood flow or cause muscle numbness. You should be sitting with your weight supported on your gluteals (butt cheeks) not with weight on your thigh. Unless you are leaning outwards against the doortrim or you spine isn't upright and your lower body is twisted which doesn't make sense. Unless your butt is seriously wide, or you sit with your legs very splayed out.

I am not a small chap at 6' and 260lbs or thereabouts, and I fit in Holden's seats perfectly well. Aussies are just as fatass as other Western first world countries like America, Germany, Brittain - they ain't making seats narrower! The missus' Bimmer seats tend to be a bit narrow in the back for me. Not Holden's. It is a sports seat designed to hold you in place under lateral forces but I found the seats in the SS-V Redline supremely comfortable for hours at a time.

It's not uncommon for Tremec manual equipped Holdens to let off a little 'clutch' smell especially after someone's given it a caning. Especially when new. It doesn't indicate an issue. Mine smelled of clutch the first day I brought it home. It still grabs strong enough to spin the rears on a dry road at 60,000 miles. Now it only does it if I do an extended clutch slip like a steep hill start with a load on board. Same unit that comes on all LSx manuals, including cover assembly.

Homelink - like Onstar, appears to be a US only thing. Never 'erdofit!

Hmmm - the front lower squab does look different. But the side bolsters don't. Could be due to heated seats? The rear side cushions aren't but the top around the headrest is - again, heating?

Maybe, they're Malibu seat squabs with a different covering? They look similar. They aren't even the same as HSV seats, although the backs look similar.

The seats of the VF and I presume any other seats used are designed according to the principles of GM's Human Factor labs. So, if one has an issue, all should have the same issues. I know they mix and match the backs with different sqaubs for different models.

the seats are made by Futuris but are to the GM global frame design I believe. Maybe the sports seats have too much padding.
