    Ford v Ferrari

Looks like an awesome movie. Ford and Mustang will get some good PR over this.

What's a good GM story? I can think of the Penske, Z/28, Trans Am series.....
Pony Car: an affordable, compact, highly styled car with a sporty or performance-oriented image and an available V8.

Can you imagine the current GM leadership saying this?:

"This isn't the first time GM has gone to war, we know how to do more than push paper. Go ahead Caroll, go to war"
Pony Car: an affordable, compact, highly styled car with a sporty or performance-oriented image and an available V8.

Looks good actually, might even go see it even though I'm not a fan of Matt Damon and haven't thrown any money at his films in years.

    GM vs. their Loyal Enthusiasts.

In all seriousness, this does look like a very good movie.

I've got to get comfortable with Matt Damon as Caroll Shelby, though.....

LOL, I almost posted a pic of that "Matt Damon" in my post, haha. First thing I think of with Damon now.

Has Zora's story been told? Besides his engineering he won his class twice at Le Man's. Seems like there could be an entertaining story there.

In this same time period GM had John Z. working his magic with muscle cars and Pontiac.

Imagine if GM had given carte blanche to DeLorean like Ford did with Shelby. Or team DeLorean up with Duntov and let them run with their imaginations! Oh man just imagine that!

General Motors could have been serious players in international racing too.

Oh, GM could have, but the government could have forced a breakup. With half the consumer market, GM was watching their step during this era. That is why DeLorean was let go, and numerous other idiocies occurred. At the time, they made more sense. Maybe. Still trying to see it, but I was under 10 when all of this went down. It seems GM had no stones for risk-taking, but Hank the Deuce had a few for personal reasons.

John was let go because the conservative stiffs running the company throwing down vodka tonics at the country club couldn’t stand DeLorean’s rock n roll life style and attitude.

They should have let Duntov and DeLorean team up and develop a full in-house racing program.

Those two, together and unleashed would have been dangerous and probably conquered the world.

I imagine that would have quenched John’s thirst for making his own decisions instead of him getting into all that trouble and failing his own company history would show him as important to racing as Shelby.

But then, Robert Zemekis would have had to chose another car for a time machine.
