    Silverado Cracking Dashboard

2010 Silverado with a cracking dashboard. There has been no abuse, and a sunshade is always used. However, my dashboard is cracking for reasons other than abuse. Potentially too little heat stabilizer in the resin?
I am not seeing this in older dashes. Online research is showing like failures around the 2010 timeframe.

I believe the dash issues stem for pretty much the entire gmt 900 run 2006-2013, your classic gm knew it was an issue and didn't care to fix it deal.

Yes. Had a Cheyenne (Farm Beater) prior. Ran good, but a rust bucket.

And I guess it will be the last:
    1. Had to replace the pistons/rings - Excessive oil burn and plug fowling
    2. Had to replace the valve cover - Excessive smoking
    3. Drivers side seat coming apart
    4. White powdery substance from interior continues to fall
    5. Radio/clock display randomly unreadable
    6. And last but not least, dashboard cracking, and separating from mounting around steering column

The quality is just not there ….

Did you ever armorall the dash? The 2007 to 2013 all were prone to this most times around the passenger airbag.

My wife had a 1990 (IIRC) Lumina top of the line model, bought new. By 1996 the dash looked like the Grand Canyon.

Thank you! I usually use the Lucas interior cleaner. But am sure at times I used the Armorall. The cleaners I used have never caused this condition in my other vehicles. Years ago when I saw the design around the airbag I knew it would crack. Very poor design, very weak. How did GM not see it?

That's because the GMT800 line was a solid truck, no frills but solid non the less.

Sorry to say to the og poster here but the gmt 900 line was without question in my opinion the worst Silverado/Sierra every produced. From it's looks, to it's performance, and all the little issues that run had I would never own one! The dash cracking problem is one of the top issues and pretty much all trucks have or will experience it. Just a poorly made gm product at it's peak of incompetence. Even with some of the issues of the k series line and the new 19's they are still light years ahead of the 06-13 run imo!
