Toyota recall 1.6 million additionnal US vehicule with Takata airbags

    Article from Reuters http://www.reuters.com/article/us-au...-idUSKCN0YE2MX
Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) said on Monday it will recall almost 1.6 million additional U.S. vehicles for front passenger side Takata air bag inflators that could rupture.

Earlier this month, Takata Corp (7312.T) said it was declaring another 35 million to 40 million U.S. inflators defective at the urging of U.S. regulators, a move that more than doubles the number of inflators recalled. Faulty Takata inflators have been linked to more than 100 injuries and 13 deaths worldwide.

I would be unplugging airbags and sensing and diagnostics modules before my car turned a wheel again if I knew it had Takata air bags.

A buddy of mine at work hasn't driven his 2015 MDX in over two months. The dealer kindly gave him a Toyota Corolla as a temporary car, I asked my buddy if it has the Takata airbags, he said no. I bet he needs to check again to see if the loaner has the same problem.

Why haven't all the makers who used Takata bags gotten together and sued the hell out of Takata?

Sheesh. After all this , I think I'd look at producing this part in-house, where I can control it.

And how the hell deep are Takata's pockets? A normal company would've been at the bottom of the ocean by now.

Amazing that Takata is still in business. They are to airbags what VW is to fuel efficient diesel engines. The only difference is that a diesel engine isn't going to kill you.
