    Solstice/Sky Beater?

it looks as the rumors of a supra revival are true...of course i did first see similar pics in road&track.the writer said the pic in the magazine was photoshopped but the styling is very close to the real thing.and the pic i posted is different from the one in the magazine.(angle, view)

    Re: Solstice/Sky Beater?

If the Supra makes a return to North American shores, it will no doubt be more than a Sky and Solstice beater. The Supra has always been a fairly upscale car in terms of it's pure performance and no doubt, it will/would be an expensive model to go up against the likes of the G35s and M3's of this world. If the new ones look like that, I like the older ones better.

The front of that is ugly. The back looks like the old Eclipses.

it looks very supra-ey with the lines, but i'm not a big fan of the front. the headlights look too close together. and the grille looks like it needs more space, almost as if (no pun intended) the headlights are getting all up in it's grille .

the front of that thing belongs on a different car. and i dont think they over there in japan are aware that over here the clear taillights thing is old school now.

Actually, it looks a lot like the old Toyota 2000GT in the front. This was the car that inspired the Datsun Z cars, and that also happened to be the best looking Japanese car ever built IMO. It also made an appearance in the James Bond movie "You Only Live Twice".

That front-end is -very- ugly. Other than that, the car doesn't look too bad.

The front is an update of the original Supra GT2000.

When compared to the cartoonish Celica this is a nice and the real shocker an original Toyota design that isn't a yawnmobile. Toyota fans can only hope R&T is close to the actual design.

I like the side profile, but the nose is U-G-L-Y.

    Re: Solstice/Sky Beater?

Thats an awful looking car. I doubt it would be a direct competitor for the Sky and Solstice. This would be more a competitor for midsized RWD cars like the Mustang and the Camaro(if they ever bring it out). Or maybe Toytoa will go all out with it and make it a Corvette competitor.

    Re: Solstice/Sky Beater?

Despite Toyota's usually bland designs, I just can't help but doubt that the next Supra will have a face like that. It's too well-known around the world that Toyota MUST HAVE done some focus groups first...and I'm betting a lot of them would say that front is ugly.
