Pic of the NEW Sonata interior for 2008.

Everything flows now. They moved the vents into the upper part of the dash, brought the radio down closer to the HVAC controls, the new center stack is a huge improvement.

new '07 (or 2008 interior, not sure):

    '06 interior:

Edited to add that: From what I've read on another forum, it might be a Hyundai mock-up for the 2008 MY, but it is for the Sonata.

The new design is much better, but I hope you can get the center stack is a trim other than that cheap black-plastic. It reminds me of the LaCrosse center stack.

Another reason to worry about the Koreans. In addition to beating Honda in J.D. Power's 2005 Initial Quality Survey, Hyundai has taken the initiative to improve product that isn't even a year old...

Wow. When they find out what the people want and do not want. They sure know how to make an improvement quickly.

    Nicely done, Hyundai.

I can't really tell if the black plastic is cheap or not just from looking at pics but I honestly don't see any Buick Lacrosse similarities.

The Lacrosse's center stack is wider and there's too much empty black space on the Buick's center stack. There's too many same sized buttons that are too squished together, GM could've used the space more efficiently IMO.

That's a big improvement, and it wasn't that bad to begin with. I can't believe GM needs to be taking lessons from Hyundai.

    Hyundai ceases to amaze!

Looks 100X better...more upscale and sporty....not as much Toyota

I looked at the 2006 model at the auto show yesterday, and that awkward center stack did stand out. The seats looked good, but did not feel good. The fancy bigger Azera had some very cheap and flimsy interior parts, such as the cover over the cup holders.

I certainly agree - why can these guys fix something like the center stack for teh next models year when it takes GM and Ford 3 years to revise a car?

Are you sure this is for 2007? I've seen the pic and posted it on another forum, but I was unable to confirm whether or not this is for 2007.

Nevertheless, this is what i'm talking about. Hyundai knows how to deliver. This is a car that i'd like to own. The interior looks great for it's price range. It has an upscale appearance to it.

Why can Hyundai design a better interior than GM? Just look at the Kia Optima as an example:

That is an attractive design. Hyundai is the company that is extremely impressing me. Each new product they release is done well.

Why can't I see the '07 pic? Do you have a direct link?

Funny you didn't mention that the Kia interior (in the above pic) has a gap about a half-ince wide between the door panel and dash.

If that's transfered into the final product, then i'll address it. However, that has nothing to do with DESIGN.

    nsap,

I will really have to see the Kia's interior in person to decide about that gap. I'm surprised I hadn't noticed it, but now since you have pointed it out I do see it quite clearly now, though I don't believe the gap would be as large as you do. Whether or not this will be apparent on the production version, seeing as how I did not take notice to it because of the very pleasing design of the new Optima's interior as a whole I doubt many of the customers would let this keep them from buying one.

Maybe I hadn't noticed it because of how well the door panel and dash trim line up with each other in the photo.

I am glad you pointed that out.

Don't be too hard on the Americans when it comes to product revision. I think they're making an effort to improve. Plus others have taken a bit to solve blatant problems recently. It took Nissan/Infiniti at least two model years to allay their recession in interior quality. Roughly the same amount of time passed before Honda nipped and tucked the Accord's notorious behind, or BMW 'finished' styling the 7-series so to speak...
