Nissan: it tilts like a motorcycle but has four wheels...

As we all know, automakers face tremendous challenges. Except for the relentless competition and young people losing interest, there is the notion, particularly among automakers outside the U.S., that people will 'differentiate' car use. The SUV for family trips and hauling stuff, the growling V8 car for pleasure and making a lasting impression on the neighbors.... and a more dedicated, smaller and more efficient vehicle for commuting, running errands, etc. Think electric propulsion or at least 100 mpg.

Now Renault Group partner Nissan wants to make its own, better version of the Renault Twizy. The information comes courtesy of Etienne Henry, the Japanese giant’s head of product strategy and planning. Sources indicate that it may look like the so-called landglider that Nissan showed a few years ago.

Question is: would you want one (next to 'that other car' in your garage)? You will get to keep more juice and cash at the end of the week... to fill up that gas guzzler of yours.

No, unless I felt the need to purge my stomach twice a day.

While I don't think it looks that nice, I do have an urge to buy one these cars that can tilt in corners, I just think its a really cool trick.

This type of vehicle would not be practical for me, but I can see it fulfilling the needs of urbanites in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and in many markets around the world. Would I enjoy driving such a vehicle? Definitely! It's not very attractive in my eyes, but it looks like a lot of fun and I certainly see a need for it in many markets.

    Very cool technology.

I like that. If I had the money, I'd pay for the development of an AWD go-kart with a plastic shell all around it. Besides, if I was on a motorcycle, I'd prefer to avoid the wind, rain etc.
